Well before too long the leaves will be falling as we move into Autumn. Most of my tadpoles have developed into frogs now and I've had good fun watching them leave the pond and head out into the garden.

Here are few photos of some of the froglets which have left the pond:

In the last photo, a couple of froglets have found their way into the bike store where the spiders live.

Yes! It's the exact same one! I knew they could do that, but seeing it happen first-hand is much different. Hard to believe he someone figured out the direction and everything.

Wow I almost think he deserves to stay after trecking all the way back home JB.

We'll see what happens. When he kills more birds or eats more fish I'll have to do it again, but I give him a ton of credit for finding home!

How far did that bullfrog go, JB? I didn't know they would find their way back home!
Seems the leopard frogs like to be in the grass or flower beds when I'm mowing, and then jump into the tall grass in the pasture! This leopard frog was in the koi pond bog, while I was leaning over and pulling some of the plants that I've decided I no longer want. I heard it jump around, then felt it plop right onto my bare foot! It jumped off after a second, and I didn't even flinch, because I heard it jumping, knew it was a frog. He stayed put for me to get the camera. :)

This guy sits on the skimmer often, and my one Boston Terrier, Quincy, loves to come down the stairs from the deck and head straight for the skimmer, just to see if he's there to be chased into the water.

How many frogs do you see in this picture? There are 4! These guys were watching and waiting for grasshoppers last weekend, but sadly they were hard to find! I was pulling weeds, and found several grubs, which were appreciated, too. Once they know I'm in feeding mode, they never jump in, they are very patient. I always talk to them when I come near the pond, too.

This is a Northern Cricket Frog, pretty sure anyhow. Spotting several of them outside of the ponds these days. I think they prefer to hunt under the plants, or maybe it's safer there than in the ponds with my bullfrogs.

Some nice frogs on this thread - in fact some beauties!
But I think I should introduce my trampolining frog, Fred
Watch him here:

I know you aren't going to believe this, but these pictures (same frog) were taken on January 31 .... this year!!! Yep, we had really warm temps for a few days, and I spotted this and another leopard frog in my ponds. This gal was on the edge of the koi pond, facing the morning sunshine. I think it was in the mid 50's this day. The other frog jumped into the goldfish pond from the end of the stream. How's that for winter and frogs?!

I had ice, then thawed, then ice, and thawed, then saw the frogs! It's iced over again, but bogs are running, so there is running water into both ponds, so I'm guessing the fish are happy.

It is a beautiful day here, 73 right now! I've been outside cleaning up my landscaping, cutting off grasses, etc., and was in the koi pond bog, cutting down some of the plants, and noticed this leopard frog. I saw another one while I was pulling up some lamb's ear, but it jumped into the koi pond. This one held still, even when I went back 2 hours later with my camera, and gently moved back the branches to get a better shot. My camera was maybe 3" away. LOL They trust me, the ones that have been here for several years now. My guess is this one has been around a while.
