Good deal. I have a huge bullfrog that started killing sparrows last year. I think I found 2 or 3 dead in the goldfish pond. Never noticed any fish missing, though. The way I figure it, if that bullfrog needs to kill birds, so be it. I don't have many "pretty" birds, and the only ones that she caught so far were sparrows. I know they can kill large fish, but evidently that's not on her menu. I even have fantails in that pond, but never have lost one yet to the frog. They all made it through the winter again, too. :)

Some of my goldfish are only 3 inches. I don't wanna lose them. Thanks for confirming its type. Was odd being a green frog but not green.

Yep, I agree. If you see your green frog next to my bullfrog, you will easily see the ridge and the difference. Bullfrogs come in green all the way to dark brown, too. I think sometimes this time of year especially they are that dark drab brown because they have been hibernating deep in the pond, or in the mud, and that's the color of the environment around them. They will get lighter and more green as the temps warm up soon!

I have been refinishing the wood on our boat in Florida. I was trying to put a piece back in place. I noticed the 30 amp power cover had been pushed beyond the fiberglass. When I got it pulled back, this frog jumped out on the deck. It was albino in color, and the body was about 3 inches long, not counting the legs. It quickly leaped onto vertical fiberglass and stuck to it no problem. Then, it went over the top, and down inside between the fiberglass and the hull. It was one cool looking frog.

The toads come first, then the frogs. When the toadlets hop out of the ponds they are everywhere. And so darn tiny. I never see a million toads in the yard. I think some of the egg droppers come out of our back woods. But they sure have taken care of the excessive bugs we had when we moved in here. I do no spraying for bugs.

Funny, but I don't spray my yard with anything for bugs. The only time I spray myself is late summer when the mosquitos are out, but usually I just stay inside after dusk to avoid their bites.

The pond critters take care of the mosquitoes and anything else that dares try to live in our yard.

I managed to see two spring peepers, i.e. tree frogs, they are around 2 inches, the gals, the boys around 1 inch, in the pond doing their thing. First the toads, then the peepers, then the frogs.

Looking for LOVE!

Then saw a water spider floating over the tail of a over wintered tad pole, all the critters love my warm no fish slow flowing ponds.

Have not seen or heard any Toads around here yet, but I just heard one of my Bull Frogs call. Didn't expect to hear that this early in Spring. I hear Western Chorus Frogs all day out in the natural ponds nearby, but usually Bull Frogs won't call until it gets warmer.

I agree, JB. My bullfrogs croaked over a month ago, on a very warm evening. Have seen them almost daily, but not when the temps are below 45 or the winds are fierce, like yesterday. Been hearing toads in the evenings just the last few nights. Today temps going up to 65 and it's sunny, so hoping everyone will be back out today, and that the winds will be calm, too. Man, yesterday they were 30 mph, with 50 mph gusts, and I was in a greenhouse all day. Thought the plastic sheeting on the sides and roof were going to tear off for sure!
