We have lots, they hop and out and are going until next year. Do see some toads now and then. The green frogs stick around all summer.

Busy amphibian day for us! This morning, caught 2 toads getting frisky in the folds of our future waterfall and our exposed, mid-construction, liner was hiding 3 tree frogs. When we checked on everyone this afternoon, found a lovely strand of toad eggs, and along the waters edge around the perimeter, tons of tree frog egg clusters. We relocated what we could to our tadpole preform, as we'll be mucking about rocking in the pond, but i'm no stranger to wading around tadpoles (they like to suck on my feet!) so the few stragglers we left behind should be ok, assuming they hatch. Might need to toss in some algae pellets or relocate some string algae since there's not a lot to eat in the new pond right now.

As of this evening, papa toad is still hanging around (hopefully hunting mosquitos!), but mama has hopped away. I suspect the tree frogs are still around, too, but no noise yet.

Not gonna lie, I was totally surprised to find toads and their eggs this morning. Last year, I had eggs a few days before Mothers day and since it is so much later this year, I thought the toads had given up on us because of construction or the weather. Happy to find that they are a pretty forgiving bunch ;-) It's going to be chilly for the next few days (50s and 60s). I hope they will manage ok!

Isn't nature grand?!?!?! :ROFLMAO:

I have had so many eggs laid this year. Every pond is full of them. The toads tended to stick with the big pond. The frogs went to the fishless small ponds.

I watched Calvin roust a huge toad or frog into the pond yesterday. That sucker was hopping like mad and hit the pond in a big "flying wolinda" jump. Calvin seemed fairly proud of himself and I'm glad he didn't catch him. Instant Karma though, a few minutes later 2 bluejays, who have been semi stalking Calvin started dive bombing him. Ahhh the life of a feline.

I'm not sure why Tree Frogs have such a fascination with pond liner. This little one almost got squished in a fold as we were working on our berm. I've never seen them this white before --- usually they end up being gray or brown, but I guess in order to blend in with the black pond liner, a white tint was required... (the pic is a li'l bit overexposed but not by much)

So, being the good tree frog stewards we are, we relocated him (her?) to the tadpole holding tank. This pic is woefully bad -- goofy cell phone camera. It's casper, the friendly frog! ;-)

They do seem to show up everywhere and love to hang on the liner.

Well shoot, our cute little tree frog made an appearance this morning... again in the fold of our pond liner, and a few hours later we found him floating belly up in the new pond =(

I netted him out and he was barely alive. I set him in the shade under a hosta, but I don't think he's going to make it. I hope my pond didn't poison him (we just filled it yesterday, added dechlorinator and starter bacteria and have had an aerator bubbling away all night. Now i'm paranoid. He shouldn't have had any trouble climbing out, so i don't *think* he drowned.

I'm hoping the "whitish" color is froggy-paleness and that he wasn't feeling well to begin with... i'd hate to think I did something to the poor thing. WAH!

I have to watch my feet now there are tiny frogs hopping everywhere, tiny tiny things. I shuffle now to get them to move out of the way.

I'm no expert on frogs but that's definitely not a leopard frog - they have spots even as juveniles and are 3-4" long.
