This little guy was very loud last night, took a video of his sound. I tried catching him on camera swimming around the pond but too dark.

So on Monday we had a long long bike ride during lunch on the American Tobacco trail. On the way to the destination I noticed that there are a lot of ditches along the way - soooo... on the way back I stopped at one of the ditch and saw some tadpoles in it YEY!!

I sacrificed my water bottle and got 4 little ones in there. 2 of them already have back legs. I cant tell what they are but seems like some type of tree frog or spring peeper. They are not toad as they are pretty pale / greenish / clear tail and about 1.25 inches long.

I'm hoping it's bronze frog (relative to green frog). I'm not going to put them in the nature pond coz there are many dragon fly nymphs in there and they will get eaten. I'm still hoping a frog would find my pond soon :)

Yes those are very loud little buggers Tmann :)
I guess you would get used to them after awhile when trying to sleep I presume?

Looks like several different type of frogs you have there, JW. Loving all the pics everyone is posting. I love this thread! Frogs are my favorite critters that come to my ponds, although I get mostly bullfrogs. Have had some leopard frogs, and a few different type of tiny frogs (peepers, cricket frogs), but never have seen a tree frog. Wondering if they are here (I hear them sometimes up in the trees, but NEVER can spot one) and I just never see them ...
T'mann is that a toad or a frog? Neat video! First year with ponds, daughter sleeping in bedroom with pond right outside window, had to close window, frogs were soooo loud! She said, "Love your pond, Mom, hate the frogs, though." LOL

Saw the first frog of the season in my pond on Mother's Day! Hummingbirds (males) arrived same day, and introduced themselves. Funny, they do that every year, fly back and forth in front of your face as if to say "Hello"!

Out looking at pond this evening and whilst looking out for the frog again I discovered not one but two additional frogs. One was at one of the pond whilst the other two were sat together in the hairgrass at the other end.

It looks like some of my tadpoles from last year made it safely to adulthood.

JB that's a really great pic(s) of your froggie friend!
Haro, I've noticed hummers do that, even if the human is inside the house. I always say they are telling us "get out her and fill my feeder, I'm starving!!!" I have not seen any hummingbirds, but very few come here or stay, due to not many trees within a couple of miles. Need to get a new feeder, broke my good one last year, and the one I have is really cool, but the bottom that screws onto the mason jar is aluminum, and it turns the water orange. Anyone know if this leeching into the water will harm the birds? I don't like the look of it, but don't care as much if it won't hurt the birds.
