I counted 26 frogs last night and couldn't hear myself think it was so noisy and thats pretty bad

That is my GOAL. I live in a little town, and between traffic all day long, ATV's, lawnmowers, weedwhackers, and dogs barking... I can barely wait for the sun to go down in the evening. Right now, it's kinda cold out, 4/22/14, but I can still hear the crickets, and somewhere off in the distance I hear a frog and occasionally an owl.

Last summer I had a few visitors, am in search of local tadpoles at the moment since my water is filtering and prepping for animal life once again. But personally I would rather hear the crickets and frogs and the sound of water.... ahhh!

My visitors...

My Green frog was too funny today. He was sitting on the edge of what was the remainder of the stream and didn't budge as I was removing the stone around the edge, including one he had his foot against. I dug up a plant right next to him. and then as I was sliding the entire liner out he was still attempting to stay in that exact spot. Safe to say he has no fear of me.

I'm with you, Aiden. I live out in the country, so no sounds at night at all, unless the neighbors on either side of me (both separated by at least 2 acres) have their music very loud, and then I only hear the bass. But, to hear crickets, frogs, waterfall splashing, that's pure heaven! JB, I think you have a real friend there! I suggest you find a worm, or bug or something to give him. I'll just bet he will eat it out of your hand! My bullfrogs soon learn that when I toss something in towards them, they need to check it out, as it's often a bug of some sort. Not that I toss bugs, but there are some that I don't care for, like when I have a hundred grass hoppers that are eating my flower and plants, then get caught and tossed for frog food. I give the grasshoppers a fair chance. If they make it to the side (which they do about 75% of the time) they are safe. LOL The frogs soon learn to be quicker towards the end of the year.

You will have him trained, and videos to share, too. I think I took a video of my bullfrog going after a grasshopper in the past. It's fun! Mine are not as friendly as yours, that they let me get that close. Once in a great while I'll have one that stays put while I'm working. I just talk to him like he's supposed to be there. Guess they realize I'm not going to hurt them, just like you say.

I often go out to my pond in the late evening with a torch as it's always interesting to see what wildlife is active when the sun goes down.
Anyway last night whilst putting out the rubbish I decided to have a quick look and was delighted to discover a frog in the bigger pond.

I'm pretty sure it's the same frog from the little pond and I expect it's after the tadpoles which I recently added. I didn't hang around long as I didn't want to disturb it too much but managed to get a photo.

It's not a fantastic picture as it was taken in complete darkness but given that I just pointed the phone camera in the general direction of the frog I'm delighted with the result.

It's a great photo, Figgy! I never heard that frogs would eat tadpoles. Anyone else? I suspect he's just happy to be in your wonderful clear pond. Good luck, hope he/she stays and make more frogs for your pond this year. :)

Anything that is food they will eat if they can. Opportunistic feeders.

I got 3" in the last week, and my ponds are now finally back down to normal level. Was the first time I remember seeing the pond level almost to the bog level, though. Good water changes going on.
