Lay their eggs? In my skimmer box? I'm pretty green at this stuff, but does that seem like a good idea? Skimmer box is a pretty filthy place, I wouldn't expect anything to be able to live in there for long.

weve had folks here find live fish...living in their filters. fishin4cars found one that came out when he flushed his filter...around 2 or 3 inches long if memory serves correctly. that means as a tiny fry or egg it was sucked in,went thru the skimmer, pump, pipes, and hoses and managed to survive, in the bottom of a skippy style filter.

Wow. Talk about the strongest of the strong. I hope that fish got a spot of honor in the main pond after that.

I got a nice surprise early this morning, some of the tadpoles I rescued from a dried up pond recently have metamorphosed. I counted at least five or six tiny frogs in my little Wildlife Pond. Given the size of the tadpoles, they seem so much smaller in comparison. I'm assuming this is down to the metamorphosing process.

Doesn't matter what type, they sure are cute, Figgy!
My black cat, Tarzan, had a leopard frog this evening. It was on it's back, and he was batting at it, and at first I thought it was dead. He picked it up and then I noticed it move, to I hollered at him and ran toward him, which may him run away. So, I stopped, and in a sweet calm voice, I said, "Tarzan, what do you have? What a good boy!" He stopped, dropped it to show me, and I snatched it up. LOL Poor Tarzan, and the leopard frog was fine, not even any bite marks. I told him to stay in the pond until I got the cats back into the house. Hope he understood me! Also, when I put him into the koi pond bog, I noticed another leopard, this one prettier with some bright green markings, so maybe they are a pair!

OMG, yep I see him now! Thanks for the hints. :)
I know this is for frogs only, but here's a close up of the larger painted turtle in my koi pond. She's hanging onto the netted plant ring. Check out those claws! Thinking she needs a pedicure. :)

And, to follow form, is this a baby bullfrog? Very friendly little dude, took the pic from maybe 1.5' away, then cropped it tighter for more details.
