bs, I removed the bullfrog I watched chasing the fish, it went to a very nice river. It made the skimmer its home which made it an easy catch. I put a net over the opening, the second it saw me it bailed out the opening right into the net. I am sure there are more, but this one just showed up and was pretty big.
Much prefer the peaceful green frogs.

BS, I would love to share Cricket frog tads or eggs, but so far I have never seen any eggs except the toad eggs. I'm looking closer this year, though, since last year was my "maiden" pond year. LOL The Northern Cricket frogs just showed up last week that I saw, so maybe there will be eggs from them. Not sure how to ship them, though. Probably eggs would ship easily, or maybe tads betters? I had bullfrog tadpoles in my koi pond bog last summer, too, but never noticed the eggs. I have to be much more observant this year!

Here is what I found in my pond this morning:

Can anyone tell me if the one in the skimmer is a Bullfrog and the one on the float is a Green Frog? I do not see the ridges on the one in the skimmer surveying its' realm, whereas the one in the float has the ridges. :goldfish:

Here are a couple more hopping critters that have been around our pond. The first one is a Blanchards Cricket Frog. This frog is very tiny but has a BIG voice. It has a tic-tic-tic sound to it and we found it in the kiddy pool which was used as a hospital pond for sick GF. It is now a mucky pond that I have duck weed growing in. Occasionally I will find a Green Frog in that kiddy pool. This Blanchards Cricket Frog was seen last season, '11. The other toad was under the pier and it decided to go into one of the clay pipes we have stored under there. I just bent over the pier and snapped away. I believe it is an American Toad...this was from early this Spring '12 :goldfish:

Meet GW. I made a quick trip to our local GoodWill Store. I bought a couple of things and a flower pot...small. As I was walking out of the store, 2 gals were behind me and I overheard one say "___ do you want a frog? Here is a real one?" I spun around and sure enough, there was a frog up against the big window in the corner...like it wanted some coolness from the window. Now this is in the city, and I am not sure if there are any ponds near. I left my cart by my car and decided, it needed a home...it is a pretty steamy 89* here today and heading towards 100* in a few days. I opened my cargo area and there is a large dog water dish. I grabbed that dish and the small planter and told the gals that, unless they wanted the frog, I have a pond and will take it back home immediately. I caught the frog and put it in the dog dish and put the flower pot over it. The gals loaded my car for me and took the cart in and I raced home. I grabbed my camera as I raced out to the deck and took the critter to the far side of the pond to the floater. It is a nice sized bullfrog in the avacado greenish color. I am thinking a female. Unfortunately, my memory card was in the house. So I put the frog on the float and raced back in to get my memory card. I had to take telephoto lens shots and this one is the closest. I ripped off 3 shots but as I tried to get closer, it jumped into the water. I then came back in, washed my hands and went back to the city to do the rest of my errands. Upon return, I checked the pond and no sign but it is probably investigating underwater...or having a snack of dragonflys or some of my smaller fry. Can you tell I :heartpump: FROGS!!

Way to save that frog, Shoestring! Your good deed of the day. Yes, he is probably investigating his new digs, surely much better than in the store window. Glad he got to your pond if for no other reason than to have an opportunity to find a good place to live.
While at my sister and BIL's house in WI over the weekend, I got to see their little "pet" tree frog. Maybe someone knows the proper name for this little guy. He is about 2" long or maybe little less. Loves to hide under their hot tub cover. I thought he was adorable!

Then while admiring my BIL's landscaping, I noticed several young toads in a window well. This guy was shinnying up the screen, as were the others later. I wondered if they were able to get out this way, as they sure got to the top of the screen fast!

Finally got a picture of a Northern Cricket frog. Saw one about a week ago, but camera's battery was dead. This guy was pretty friendly, hung around on the skimmer outlet pipe for over an hour, let me get really close (although I did zoom) for the shot.

And, a leopard frog, although mine are not near as pretty as pics I've seen of others. I'm happy to have a diversity of frogs, though. :)

And here is Bully. He is my largest bullfrog in the koi pond, and he is always present, watches for goodies. Not seeing any bugs to toss his way lately withe the dry hot weather, though. He's really friendly, actually will swim to me to see if I have anything for him. :)

Funny story kind of. Was putting hyacinths in a bucket of Miracle Grow water, and evidently my pup took one out to test the flavor. I found it chewed on in the yard, so I tossed it into the koi pond, figuring the koi might want to munch on it. Well, 2 frogs came shooting across the pond from different sides, vying for the goodie. I'm still not sure if they really wanted the leafy plant, or if the one got there and was not going to share with the other, but he grabbed that leaf, tugged it under water, kept trying to swallow it, then finally swam to the side, behind the skimmer to check out his prize. I fear he was disappointed when he realized what it was. Granted, I DO toss things for the frogs when I am planting or find Japanese beetles, but nothing lately, so this was really funny to me.
