Good luck CE and hope the plastic does the trick and none seeps in through any cracks. It will be interesting to see if this works to save your fish. I sure hope it does!

Just be careful. If the plastic is up all day under the hot sun, the pond may get smothered and hot.

If we all went back to the original corn, and if every farmer planted HIS own SEED, then the crops would be much healthier to eat. The trouble with the corn is that it is so genetically modified that it is now very hard on people kidneys. Next time you eat the Juicy Sweet corn, see if your kidneys hurt after eating it.... Then cause we modified it so much over the very many years, through cross breeding and GMO's, we have significantly changed the corn, as it is now a pure 'Carbohydrate", whereas in the past, (ancient past), when we grew the old fashion kind, it was more of a "protein", and that corn was ground into a "maze" and used as "flour".

Then cause they all mostly grow the same identical seed, the crop is now at more risk, cause if a virus or disease broke out, the whole crop would be at risk as it is all cloned and genetically the exact same..
Many many years ago when the farmers saved their own seed, each seed was genetically different than the other, so if a virus or disease broke out, the whole crop would not be at risk, cause each seed was genetically different and some of the seeds would have resistance and survive. Many top crop specialist say the corn is now highly vulnerable to disease and viruses and could be wiped out significantly in the near future, as this has already happened in South America.

My corn may not be "Juicy and Sweet", but is is my very own corn, nobody else in the whole wide world has my corn, cause the seeds were saved from the crop of our very old ancient corn last year, and each seed is different, genetically speaking. My corn will be ground into a maze and I plan to make my own old fashion corn tortillas right in my cast iron pan this fall!!

Look!! My corn is starting to make tassels and the tassels are all different colors, some are mostly purple, some are red, some are pink, some are creamy white, some yellow, and some are totally black!! Just like people, they will ALL be Different!! How Cool is that? The kernels inside will all be different colors, just like the tassels!!

ZmanArt, thanks for the nice compliments. I typically give away (for postage cost only) tons of plants in the early summer. If you see anything you would like a start of, just send me a PM. I could probably round up some in a week or two (will be gone this coming weekend through Tues.) and ship them. If you have everything you want/need, no worries!
My plan is to have the plastic above the ponds, to keep the main spray from getting into the water. The goldfish pond is going to be covered the best, as that is what was affected last year. Thinking the spray didn't do any damage to the koi, so they are probably fine, but going to cover them, too. There will be 3-4' of air space between plastic and water, though.

Well, spoke to the farmer over the weekend (AFTER I left for Wisconsin on Sat. a.m.) and he said he had been on vacation, but had not heard from the seed salesman, who is responsible to watch the beans, and decide when they should be sprayed. He said he told the salesman that I MUST be called when they decide to spray. I have heard nothing, and most corn has been sprayed already. The next few days big chance of rain ... WOOHOO!!!! I need rain really bad here.
Oh, and I stopped at CometKeith's house on my way to WI! What a treat! He and his wife were more than gracious, invited me for lunch, and I cannot tell you what I ate (hoping Keith sees this and reminds me!!!), but it was absolutely delicious! I love trying new foods, and these were all new to me. Thanks again, Keith! I'll post the pic of you and your beautiful wife on your thread. :) Here is me and Keith with his pond behind us!

Also saw a beautiful red damselfly, his big frog and his beautiful fish. Wow, what beautiful colors he has in his fish "herd".

That was so nice you got to visit w/ Keith and see his pond and enjoy a nice lunch. Wish all of us could get together at one time like that. Have a great big gathering and travel and see each others ponds too.

Hey, CE, Thanks for posting the great pics and I can't believe what a good picture you got of the dragonfly! We carried in from a middle eastern restaurant for lunch... The main dish was chicken shawarma and a bunch of salads and sauces they gave us to go with it. Living in Chicago we get used to a lot of ethnic foods because there is so much to choose from so I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Colleen, I actually have brown hair, with reddish brown highlights, but I take the "red hair" as a compliment! I think the sun shining on it made the red cast. It was a great visit, and I was very happy. The smile is pretty much permanent on my face. I'm just a pretty happy person for the most part. :)
JW, it would be so much fun to meet others, and I have that as my "goal" and it's definitely on my bucket list. Joe and I have talked about going to WA next fall, his family is having a family reunion that we are going to go to. I already mentioned "I want to go visit with JW, and then find out how far Colleen is from JW's house and maybe visit her in Canada!!!" So, Colleen, how far ARE you from Washington State??? I think you mentioned you were not that far one time, but maybe you were totally joking.

CE, My wife and I are already planning on visiting you and your pond next time we go to U of I to visit our daughter so I hope you don't mind. Re Canadians. They think 1000 miles or so is close because they are so spread out, so I bet Colleen is a little further from JW than you think!

Colleen is up above Montana. Look up towards the top and you can see Medicine Hat where she lives. You could drive up to Montana and then up to Canada and then over to Washington.
