Well, I'm once again totally confused. I had to look back at the original pond, and pictures of how it was to be expanded. I am not visioning it here, as it looks like a bunch of small areas, so maybe this is all the footings or something for the pipe channels? Is your pond going to be high above the ground surface? How did I get so lost on your build, Whiskey? Help me figure this out, please. :)

countryescape look at the drawings again and at the 3d drawing.....its a raised pond approx 900mm above ground , so i can put a window in and 600mm below making 1.5mts [ 5ft ].
the main pond is seperate from plants by wall, but at top of wall inserted into wall is a 6" piece of perspex, this is placed 4" below surface with 2" clear of the surface.......now if you were to look from window accross top of main pond towards plants.....the plants would look part of the main pond....one because water levels are the same ...two because perspex is [ clear] see through....hence one very large pond....from window to back wall of plants.......HOPEFULLY.

I guess the part that is confusing me is the curve up against the blue building. I guess that's maybe kind of a stream on the far side of where your water wheel will be, is that right? I was also confused with all the footings and walls in that same area, but maybe that is where you're putting the planter, and it won't be as deep as the pond. Am I getting close?

Hi,
Today been another good day ,managed to pre-cut 20 blocks to angles required [ this took nearly two hours ], did one course of blockwork and emptied 7 tubs of earth into water wheel housing area.
Got another seven layers to go, four to be filled with soil, one to be base and two/or three being water wheel tank.
My tanks have arrived ...all three of them from ebay..not bad either only paid £55.00 for them all.....cost new £70.00 each.

Whiskey, we don't commonly build with solid block here in the US, but I see it often used many other places around the globe. You're using both. What's the thinking on solid vs hollow block? Obviously rebar can be put in the hollow, but anything else?

Are the 45 degree corners still in the plan? I was expecting them in these photos, but I may be lost.

Hi waterbug, yes corners still in plan to stop edge creasing or spliting ..lots of cutting to do on blocks to get angles...hollow only for steels but many here use them all round to save time on build.
Toying with the idea of now making top pond flow into main along with water wheel flow mergin together before entering lower pond [ koi love flow --makes them grow ] 12000 litres per hour.
With cutting done for first pillar maybe able to proceed tomorrow...still got another 16 to cut for right hand pillar...but thats another day

Looks like a really neat idea, blending overflow from waterwheel and top pond together into the large pond! I'm really liking how this is coming together! Bet you've got sore muscles every evening, but I sure enjoy the progress pics. :)
