We always say, when it's wet, we hope for dry, and then it gets dry, and we hope for wet. Hang in there, Whiskey! It will dry soon enough. Take a vacation from pond building and enjoy other things in the meantime. We'll be waiting for your to continue when the weather allows it. :)

Hi everyone

Its been awhile but rain held off today but look set to return tomorrow around 3pm, so may do an early start on concreting, need four to five hours to get skin on concrete so to speak, anyway started joining walls together using a stainless steel tie bar, great little bit of kit, also updated sieve took plastic basket out and replaced with smaller wooden basket with left over sieve screen, may not need the wool matting now, but will try both ways, see whats best also made screen for outlets to keep media in.

Got 55 watt uv in place and plumbed going onto shower , still need somemore media [alfragrog] to fill the nine trays, this empties into second container going through brushes[10] onto foam bay onto k1 media with air stones and pump, and all exiting via three returns,
1] plant chamber which returns via sieve .
2] water wheel bay
3] top pond both of which return to main pond return via bottom drain to sieve, all of the above is fed from sieve,

There will be a skimmer but this will run via small pump with outlet to sieve.

Lots of photos below

Your PVC fittings look different from most of ours. They look like they might have a rubber gasket inside? Push fit? Or are they glued?

I've been using SharkBite fittings in plumbing projects for the past year and they've worked great. Wondered if you guys had the same type of deal for large PVC.

Waterbug

Yes i have used push fit pipe connectors [ones with rubber ring inside] for ease of use, but my 2" tank connectors are solvent so is the 4" bottom drain fitting.
I find it helpful on the shower unit to get spray correctly adjusted, but may have to add extra out lets when the pump i purchased off ebay arrives wednesday of next week, as this pump is 16000 and i feel i will need to up date outlets to two of 2" to take 11/2" flow from this pump , the pump that was running on shower will flow over water wheel as before i turn my old pond into a builders yard.

Wow, lots of work done lately. That is some fantastic filtration system you have going on there, Whiskey! Looking really good. Sounds like a really large pump, but for all that you will have going on there, guess you will need it.

Given the term for these I was able to find videos on YouTube. We don't have these in the US, at least in large sizes, or I haven't run into any. We're very slow to try new plumbing technology. I think these would be handy for tweaking pond systems. Always seem to be wanting to redo something. I'm going to keep my eye out for these.
