My brother was officially diagnosed in 2022 but we saw signs that something wasn't right 4 or 5 years earlier. When you finally realize what's going on, the pieces start to fall into place. Personality changes, poor or uncharacteristic decision making, etc. The more classic memory issues didn't start until much later. But looking back there were signs of it in his early 50s. Not an easy way to go, that's for sure. So many years of turmoil. Ugh.
Take care
@addy1 - get yourself a pirate eye patch!
We had honeybees. When you remove hive boxes you always start at the top box, he would go to the bottom box.
He started losing track of what day, what we were doing. . Then drove by a stopped, red lights on , bar out school bus.
As he drove by asked what was he supposed to do. Luckily no harm. Last time I let him drive
Started failing those memory tests the docs give old farts.
Last one taken, total fail, our doc sent us to a neurologist.
He failed that test.
Found out he has genenom e4/e4. Can't take the new slow down med. Also indicator Alzheimer's started in his early 60s
I put myself on the mind diet, very little sugar, no red meats, no alcohol etc. one of us need to be able to think.
It totally sucks, but is what life handed out. He didn't ask for it. I set up a trust to protect him down the road.
Yep get a pirate eye patch! Great idea!
