just fired up the pond it was a battle as i have two lines that are frozen solid. the main drain line as it crosses from the pond to the pump room and a return jet. As the pump continues to run its working on freeing up the ice.

We moved one of the security cameras up to the deck to monitor the small greenhouse. Went to check on it this morning and the camera at the koi pond had an alert. Seems that last night the stri algae in the barrel filters blocked the plumbing and drained the pond down to 6" in the deep section. Grabbed the dechlor, turned on the hose and went to find where the water went. 4000+ gallons gone, took 3 1/2 hours to refill. 2 pumps ran dry but both restarted once the water was up.
The cameras saved the day again.

I had opened up the bottom drains on the filters the day before. The cover over the barrels had blown off so algae had started. I had planned to give the filters a good flushing out this next week but--- at least the pumps were up off the bottom and the fish are doing ok. They get some food tomorrow!

Cleaning out some hornwort from a small loop pond.
Found a few beautiful little fish. One Sarrasa , one shubie. Not sure how they managed, that pond had ice almost to the bottom.

As eggs or tiny fry, they traveled through the pump, PVC pipes, a 50 foot hose, into one loop pond, waterfall into the second loop pond, waterfall into the third loop pond.

Now living in that third loop pond. Sure surprised me.

And surgery #4 on cheek Thursday. Pulled eyelid down again. This time drastic fix. Oversized graft, eye sewed shut for a month. Hold lower eyelid where it belongs.

4 days for them to do the job.
