I bet that is an adjustment as you're so used to hearing and seeing them. I think it's key to know when to let go of things as we age....when the balance tips from enjoyment to stress.
It is the quiet the total lack of the hum from the bees, as a child they were everywhere. Still have lots of native and bumblebees. They too love all the plants I have planted.

And it is a habit to watch them leaving the hives in a steady stream looking for food. And hundreds drinking in my ponds. Yesterday none.

And yes it was time.

lol the suit would never stop a blade................. it is ventilated three layers just so the bees can't get to your skin. I handed it off to the guys picking up the hives. Still being a bee suit! And I even washed it lol

lol we were going to sale , wanted to reduce my work load and we had three swarms.

When they swarm before nectar flow you lose 1/2 of your nectar collecting work force.
They fly way up into trees, land and leave quickly, etc etc

Our three swarms, one landed on the ground, walked into the hive. The other landed 1 foot off the ground, easy to grab and stick in a hive, the third landed in a small tree 3 feet off the ground. We hived all three and actually got a super of honey from each. (10 frame box) and the hives they swarmed from gave us a bunch of honey, which they usually don't.

Finished up canning tomatoes. I started yesterday but had a lid blow off while removing the bar from the canned. Got covered in boiling tomatoes- and they stick to you! Got a few blisters to show for it and now any popping sound makes me jump.

I went to the Milwaukee airshow yesterday. It was the first one in three years. Had a fantastic time! The weather was perfect. The Blue Angels were here this year for the first time since '17. From my perspective, it was the BA's best show in Milwaukee since I've been going, and even with only 5 jets. Blue Angel #6 and their C-130 'Fat Albert' must've had mechanical issues. But there were some amazing low fly overs in the area I sat. I didn't photograph any of the flyovers because I wanted to enjoy them and let them soak in, but I photographed a lot of the flybys over the lake.

Saw an unbelievable sight today. I went to go hiking at a local park today, and when I arrived and got out of the car I heard the sound of jets. I knew it was something different. Military, for sure. I waited for them to clear the trees and saw a MiG-29 and two Dassault Alpha Jets in formation! Once in a lifetime, probably. I've been to a lot of airshows, but seeing a MiG-29 is rare in the U.S. I'm not sure I've ever seen Alpha Jets before, either. Following them were three L-39's that I wasn't able to photograph. A couple hours later I was home and watching the EAA Airventure airshow livestream and sure enough, they showed up. Watching the MiG-29 land on the livestream was pretty interesting. They land at such a high speed that they need a parachute to stop. Apparently, it's owned by a billionaire astronaut that is believed to be the only American that owns one.

I went to EAA Airventure yesterday. First time in 5 years. It was a good time. Walked 10 miles, and I'm feeling it today. Saw tons of planes. They usually estimate there to be 10,000 aircraft throughout the week. Seemed like fewer this year than usual, but still A LOT.
I've got tons of photos to go through. I'll probably make a thread about it once I've gone through everything, but I thought I'd show one of the first things I saw when I got there. Two F-15s made surprises low passes in the morning.

Good luck, @addy1 Correcting the carpal means you'll be able to better enjoy the beautiful day(s) coming up.
