Bees are so cool, they do get a bum wrap by there cousins.
I remember how much work three modest hives were for my neighbor I can't imagine 27 good lord. The farmers around you certainly owe you a bit of thanks with that many hives
They are really neat.

I just had my hives inspected by a guy that has 8000 hives , he said he has never seen such healthy hives owned by a hobbyist. Now I need to sale them.

No you keep two, next thing you have 3 (caught a swarm) then 4 on and on. I need my work load reduce due to some issues with hubby. I can't work them easily by my self and the heat is hitting me hard. It always has but in a bee suit in 90 plus temps, my heart rate spikes. My cardio doc suggested I stop working them.

And they are a lot of work. It is time to "retire" again.

i'd say go spend time on the yacht but you find to much work there too. people who don't sit still in the 20,30.40's will never sit around at any age. though i tried my best this past week just sat at the pond ALL WEEK. Took a few rides , got a few new fish. Life is good

We come over about every other week, go home for mowing, pretend yard maintenance (I am so far behind I am waiting for winter to kill all) Need to see my ponds, fish, flowers, etc then back to boat. Try to spend a week or more at a time here. Have some captains training me on running the boat. Now need to learn docking!

I have never sat around, manage to sit for a bit then back to doing stuff.

This year is all about doing all I can for hubby, who knows what next year will bring

Cherish the good days @addy1
Speaking as one who has . docking by your self can become second nature. But unfortunately mother nature can add her own twist to a day . And at that point trying to dock alone can become very dangerous.

This boat is like a sail.................a bit of wind and it goes along. It is dual engine, if you put them in idle forward, reverse you can use the engines to control it well. We do have a side thruster, BUT if you do not know how to quickly respond without that panic reaction, there are way too many very expensive boats we could hit on the way into the slip.

Dear hubby was the captain, but not sure he can do it anymore. He has had boats all his life. Me I drove a canoe. We pull in right behind the big boat to the left in the picture, brand new sail boat is to the right.

At this moment we use it as a nice condo on the water. I pay captains to take us out and give me training, but have a lot of fun just being on the boat. Last trip I drove it for over 2 hours, but did not dock.

WOOHOO! Got a call from the professional that inspected my hives , he wants all of them! Yippee!

I hate trying to sale and beehives even harder. Anybody looking at them would want to smoke inspect, which sets the bees back by days. And of course the counter offers trying to take advantage of someone that needs to sale etc.

That's so wonderful! I'm so happy they are going to that guy who knows so much about them. He will be good to your bees and you guys will be free! Yay!

Great news Addy! I was happy when I found a good person to buy everything from my one pond.
I am the worse seller, good buyer, bad seller. This was such a blessing! He was so impressed with this hobbyist hives he is starting a new bee yard with the 14. Sad but so happy!

Now my neighbor and I need to gather the STUFF, all the stuff you end up using for bees, buying for bees etc etc. I have it in a van, in the basement, under the deck, in a spare bedroom on and on.

Forget docking you go out in a relatively large body of water on the wrong day, you can put your life at risk if you don’t know what you are doing. They put out small craft warnings for a reason. Been on the water pretty much everyday my whole life running boats and equipment, the things I’ve seen…. The lack of respect for Mother Nature and open water is appalling, even by seasoned boaters and unfortunately can be a lesson learned the real hard way, where you don’t get a second chance.

@addy1 Good for you on having captains teach you how to safely handle and run your boat, you never know when it may be necessary.

I have a deep respect for the water, for the bay. We have a 21 foot boat, it never goes out if there are any warnings and even though we never travel miles out. Did a lot of diving and the water can always surprise you. I like being alive lol

This boat, it won't go out without a captain, prob for length of time we have the boat I may have someone captain us out of the slip then I could cruise it around for a bit. Call when coming back to put us back in the slip. We are right near the fuel dock a straight pull in.

And then only with good weather, flat seas, low winds lol ie perfect water.

Last night Watched a bunch of fireworks off in the distance went off for 45 minutes. Tonight sitting in the upper deck and will watch the Annapolis show.

A ton of boaters go out into the bay, anchor and watch the show. We don't too much drinking and a load of boats heading back at the end.
