There is a nice ridge that kept everything on the counter. Now when I do the baths, that is different no ridge.

Hubby cooking a steak and sees foxy running across the yard. He sat up on the hill and looked over the land for about 15 minutes.
Nessie , the snake, has been hiding, but we are 20-30 degrees below normal right now

Bottling honey today, getting ready for the farmers markets. Cold and wet outside, 48 and a bit of rain off and on.

They invade. They put their eggs in other birds nest. That is the only reason I totally dislike them.

per the net :

Cowbirds are brood parasites, which means females lay their eggs in the nests of other birds and let the other mother bird do all of the rearing. The cowbird will wait for a resident bird to leave her nest and then will usually damage or remove one or more eggs and replace that one or more eggs with her own. Cowbirds lay 40-60 eggs per year.

We seem to have a lot of cowbirds around this year. And, while I agree with JBtheExplorer that they are unique & actually quite attractive birds, I think they are the reason our resident 'porch phoebes' ended up abandoning their nest. I found broken eggs on the ground twice & then (after Mrs. Phoebe had definitely been actively sitting) they just up & left. No babies to watch out my laundry room window this year. Better luck next time, I guess.

We were getting 40-50 at a time. They would empty the feeders in a couple of hours! Seems they don't like the tube feeders so pulled all feeders with big perch areas and no more cowbirds.

I have feeders that are caged, anti squirrel, only some of the females can get in, the males can not.
