Spent a few hours purging plants from the smaller half of the deck pond. Almost no room for water, one solid mass of roots (no fish, shallow)
My marsh marigold is in there doing great, did my best not to mess with its roots. Still looking upright and perky, must have done ok. What a job and the bees drink out of it and out of every body of water. They claim it as theirs, ie guards me................like get loss. Had to wear one of my veils to work out there. The one time I had it off the bee got stuck in my hair the sucker.............

I opened up a package of the Cajun smoked Tasso Ham tonight for my signature dish (back in the 80's) of Fettuccine Alfredo with Shrimp, Broccoli, and Tasso Ham. Served with garlic bread from a French Baguette. The last time I made this was over 30 years ago. I took a picture of the ham to show the amount of spices it's covered with. I diced that up, (about 1 ounce per serving) and gently toasted it in a dry pan before adding the heavy cream, and Parmesan and Romano cheese. I used a tiny bit of corn starch to reach my desired thickness of the sauce, then warmed the pre cooked shrimp n it. I steamed the Broccoli separately. The seasonings from the ham turns into tiny specs in the sauce, and distributes evenly. It tasted fantastic.

Kittens informed me they wanted out of their box. Brought them out to the living room, and at only a month old, they are almost at peak cuteness. The checkered calico is very spunky, she was the first to start playing, and stayed bouncy, prancing around investigating all the new sights and smells. The darker calico is showing herself to be a future lap cat. I softened some cat food and offered it to them, the orange male was eventually fed, but I had to hand feed him the pieces, then the little white and grey, but the black and white boy only nibbled a bit on his own. The others ignored it, in favor of play. The adult cats aren’t keen on kittens out and about. My Ziggy was very perplexed, they sound and smell like cats, but so small! I’ll have to pick up some kitten food today, now they show an interest in more than moms milk.

It’s seasonal. I was upset about the puppies, we ended up with three unexpected pregnant females, but I guess getting our alpha male fixed didn’t work as planned. Kittens I’m happy about, we were running low on barn cats.

I got my husband a gosling. He wants a guard goose, I say 2, two goose and a gander. No way to tell with this one, I think it’s an embeden, the white with blue eyes, and I want the other two to be Chinese geese. They’re known for being good guards, love munching weeds, and not being mean to their humans. I just need to find a supplier.

Thus does mean I’ll need another ( small and poultry only) pond, with a decent bog along the edges. Guess I’ll be cutting up that other pool liner and using what I can of that. I’ll be buying a small pond filter, setting the bog up with wild water weeds, things I won’t cry over if the birds eat. I bought some plants for the bees and butterflies too. I want to foster a healthy ecosystem here, farm style!

lacy phacelia , the pollinators love it, supposed to grow easy, dry, wet, sun, shade. We will see.

Very pretty plant! I read that it is great for the bees! I did see the seeds need total darkness to germinate so they must be covered with soil.
