Watching some more snow falling, but just a "dusting" Staying in the 30's today. Working on some trim wood for the boat, doing epoxy, varnish etc.
We are on isolation lock down. Hubby has a knee surgery coming up and they strongly suggested we go into self isolation. Then he needs a covid test on 12/26 for his surgery on 12/29 luckily just arthroscopic.
Hope and pray all goes well for your hubby w/his surgery and no covid.

So we have a cat that considers dads lap as her personal throne. He’s on a run today, so not home. She now seems my lap a suitable substitute, now that my chair is faced twords the east instead of to the north like his chair, just on the other side of the room. I feel privileged! When I picked these cats up from their original home about a year ago, she hated me, wouldn’t let me pet her for months. Then I could occasionally pet her, and this month, I could have her in my lap if someone put her there, and today she joined me of her own free will. She’s an older girl, so we allow her to decide what/ who/ when, and I’m pleased I’m now 2nd best in her eyes!

More holiday baking today. Got 4 batches of cookies done yesterday, today was Buckeyes and a pumpkin cheesecake. As I was cleaning up after putting it in the oven, I saw the flour canister. Oh no! Did not put the 2T of flour in it. Hopefully it will still set up properly. Tomorrow is Dulce de Leche cheesecake.

Shut down the sand and gravel filter for the season today. We've never run it this long, but cold weather is expected X-mas eve and more chances of sustained cold temps in Jan.

Checked the skimmer prior to shutting down the pump and found a dead mole ! Glad I checked as I'd hate to have it decompose in the skimmer.

Tried to get grocery;s yesterday at a supermarket in Florida. There was literally 100's of people running around with no masks. We panicked, and set off alarms evacuating the store. Got up at the crack of dawn today, and got re-stocked.
That is one of the reasons we did not go down this year.

Where the house is located it is very crowded with winter visitors and very busy. Constant rush hour of non workers lol.
No store is empty of people. The costco we go to is overwhelmed with people. It had to be in boca as they would allow it in delray so people from all over come to it.

Going to get my 1st Shingrix shot....................yikes! I have heard they are not pleasant. Have to do it tho as I have already had 2 cases of very mild hardly noticeable incidents. Not taking any chances that the 3rd time will be the one that is bad!

@j.w My sister recently had her second case of shingles and it was much worse then her first case....threatenig permanent deafness with it's proximity to her ear!

I had no problem with the first shot, but felt " flui-sh" for a day afterwards when I got my second shot.

Shingles shot was given to me today w/no issues yet. Just a slight sting w/the needle. I rubbed my arm a lot after as that is supposed to help w/any soreness. They said after 24 hours any side effects that come should be gone by then. Some get effects, others don't. Glad I got it and now the next one will be in a couple months or so. Insurance paid for it all.

Today is a sad day for us.

About 12:30 Am last night, our dog Mandy was in severe distress. We called the vet's emergency services. After they were paged twice, they never called us. We loaded her into the car to go to the ER, only to discover we were locked inside the marina. Been coming here 6 years, and the locked gates are something new. I was able to rip a large, 10" by 10" post, buried 3 feet out next to the gate but, wasn't sure if it was enough room to get out with the ditch. We called the Sheriff's. 4 cruisers showed up. It was cold out so, I had my hands in my pockets, freaking 1 of the officers out. Luckily, I remained calm and he didn't draw his gun. He took the time to rum my name, while our dog was gasping for air inside the car. They couldn't cut the chain on the gate but finally reached someone from the marina that drove there from their house and let us out.

At the ER, we made the decision to have her put down, seems she was still suffering pretty bad, even after given Lasix and placed in the oxygen box. The doctor was real good, and let us inside the building to comfort her while he performed the task.

Ironically, exactly 10 years ago at that time we were watching our house burn to the ground. I will be dealing with the marina tomorrow to find out why we were locked inside like a jail. When I get done with him, I expect we will be looking for a different place to live.

I'm so sorry, Mike. I can't even imagine... I know how high emotions run during one of those runs to the E-Vet, and to find your way blocked and be unable to get through? What a horrible thing. I am so, so sorry for your loss.
