Staying home except for walks and bike rides, canceled all appts, staying 6ft away from neighbors etc. Catching up on weed control and enjoying the sunshine! Watching the stock market go down the tubes! It will come back to normal just like everything else eventually :)

We hit the grocery store early this morning. Everything was almost like normal - busy for a weekday, but not even like a Saturday. We were able to get everything we needed with a few exceptions - no ground beef, so we got ribeyes instead... not a bad trade off. People were patient and helpful. We bought enough so we can stay out of the stores for a good month or more. Hoping we will be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel by that point. Right now, it's looking like we won't be back in school again until next year. I feel terrible for our students. What a surreal experience.

I sure hope so, but I don't feel confident about it at this point.

I'm usually so excited this time of year, but this year I feel like many of the things I look forward to are slowly slipping away.
With warmer weather, I'd love to think about going camping, but that may not be an option if the state parks close here like they have in other states, Illinois being one of them. Not to mention, it may not be affordable if things get bad. I also always look forward to the Milwaukee Air Show each summer. I feel like it won't be long before that's cancelled. I don't plan on going up to EAA Airventure this year, but I'd be bummed for everyone that looks forward to it each year if it gets cancelled.

It's hard to stay positive and enjoy life during this crises, but that's all we can do!
We're all in this together, and other than follow the necessary recommendations, we should concentrate on the beautiful things we can still enjoy...like our families, gardens, ponds....

I heard about "Spring Break" in Florida, they will go back to their homes allover the US and worsen the spread.
I don't understand why the authorities do/did nothing to stop that.
The streets in Italy are patrolled by the military, thousands of them are American soldiers, why not doing it here..I don't get it!

Yeah not just Florida, same issue in Texas, Arkansas Why in the world has this idiot country not shut everything down? We will not recover without some drastic controls put in place. Thousands of kids are going to go home and infect others.

We are staying at home or in our boat, totally away from people. Gardening gloves on when doing gas, touching mail, boxes delivered, gloves left outside, wash hands as soon as you come back in. Clean the door knob you touched opening the door. A totally different way of living right now. We are in the danger age so worth all the extra precautions. I want to live!

I know people are upset at the younger people who seem to show little regard for this virus, but I think many of us in our teens or 20s were pretty cavalier about mortality. When you're young and healthy it's easy to think nothing will stop you.

However, I can't honestly say that all the older folks are all that much better. While they may not be congregating on the beach or traveling the country, the older folks I know (my own 80 year old mother included) aren't all taking the "shelter in place" recommendations seriously either. My mom is carrying on like it's just another day. I call her daily to urge her to just stay home and within minutes of my call I can see she's on the road (don't tell her I can track her phone!) Local grocery store 2x a day, department store, bank, another grocery store further from home. And this is a woman who has enough food in her house to feed a large family for a month - she needs nothing. Yesterday she had to "run out" to get some ingredient so she could make a meal and go serve the homeless men at the shelter. Tomorrow she's cooking for the "wayward girls home". She's a hospital volunteer and would not stop showing up there until they literally shut the volunteer program down. She made a pot of soup and carried batches of it all over town to deliver to her friends. And she's not the only one - my DIL called her grandma and she was out shopping: "It's senior discount Wednesday!". Her other grandparents - at the health club! "We go to swim! The chlorine will kill everything!" My elderly neighbors are upset that their casino trip got cancelled - they don't know why other people are making decisions for them. And many of my friends can share the same stories about their elderly relatives. We have a group of men who meet for coffee every morning at the local coffee shop. When they told them they couldn't congregate there, they posted a sign on the door - "everyone meet at Tom's house for coffee until further notice".

The people I'm talking about are all 75 years old and up. The most vulnerable age group of all. Maybe they feel like they've only got so many good years left - they aren't going to waste any of it sitting at home. They announced early shopping hours for those 60 and up at most grocery stores in our area - just checked on my mom. She's out the door at 7AM.

You are so right!

We are isolated enough I have not been checking on what other old farts are doing. We are going to stay isolated, zero need to shop, go to stores, enough food to last for 2-3 months, enough tp to last also lol I dislike shopping anyways, does not bother me not to shop!

Boating season has not started here, a bit cold still, so when we go to the boat it too is isolated last trip we saw one person two piers away.

If I could be on a boat right now, I sure would be! We live in a somewhat rural area, so I feel fortunate. The urban areas are going to be hard hit I think. Congestion, people who rely on public transport, etc. My daughter's friend drives for Uber and he's been so busy driving folks who don't want to get on the bus or train. But think of the number of contacts he's making... ugh. It's so complex.

We are out with the deer and ground hogs, can stay away from everybody except picking up mail, packages. Now we unbox outside with gloves on, mail opened with gloves on, hands washed. Junk mail in the trash before we even walk in the house. Takes a lot of thought, constant alert as to what your hands are doing.

So true! I watched older people at the store licking their fingers to get the produce bags open and was like "OH MY GOSH NO!" Another lady was wearing medical gloves all around the store, touching everything and then talking on her cellphone - gloves still on, with her hands right up by her face. What do they think the gloves are for?? False sense of security right there. Stay home people.
