Got a little cold here yesterday, windchill down to -26c./ -15f. ambient temperature -15c / 5f.
I think the wind is actully bringing some warmer weather though.
Pond 5 ft temperature is 2.8c / 37f.

20 degrees here right now, but the sun is out. The pond iced over last night, but it will melt in the next day or so, considering we are looking at high-40s for the Christmas holiday. I'm not even bothering with the de-icers yet--with the waterfall running, there is still a big hole in the ice where the falls meet the pond.

My ....guess.....is if a lot open there will be a lot fewer blooms in the spring. The spring flowers buds are already set on the trees.

From what I've been reading, the cherry trees that are blooming in DC are a variety that blooms in Spring & Autumn, but needs a long Autumn for them to bloom the second time, which is why it doesn't happen every Autumn, but it's actually normal for them to do so and shouldn't effect next year.

25 F this morning. Pond froze overnight, but they're calling for warmer temps in a couple of days. Light snow off and on, but nothing you can actually see on the ground.
John

Same for us, Haro. I have alyssum blooming in the front garden. Weird.

10C and rain forecast for Christmas day.

Well it was a weird weekend. Woke up Sunday to a chilly high 30's and was wearing shorts and sitting outside having a bloody mary at the golf course around noon.
The weather is almost as bipolar as I am. :watching::blackeye::clown:
