Very neat pic, tbendl! I have never been up in one, JW, but IF the weather had cooperated, it is very likely I would have been "chosen" Sunday morning to go up with the pilot we helped Sat. evening! They said that when you help them out, if they get to fly with the group, they usually take up a bystander. Usually they pay to go up, but if they don't have someone to pay, and since we helped (I really didn't do much, but I turned out to be the ONLY one in the group that had never gone up before, and the pilot liked me lol), it was a possibility. Oh well, maybe next year! My youngest sister surprised her husband with a hot air balloon ride in Napa Valley, complete with champagne! He loved going over all the wineries. It was perfect for him for their 25th anniversary. I, too, am very afraid of heights, but would love to do this, and also sky dive ... JUST ONCE! Tandem, strapped to someone who knows what they are doing, so I can just ... SCREAM! Haha
It stormed evidently last night. I heard the thunder, saw the lightening, but had no idea it was complete with winds. Had huge branch out of one of my old soft maple trees, and then this sycamore "stump" (it's about 12' tall, broke off, so I had it cut off and left for bird feeder holder) which grows a "top" every year, broke off the topper in the wind. Nice of it to miss landing on anything ... AGAIN! Here is what it looked like first thing this morning.
Then, tonight after work (in 91 degrees and much higher heat index ...) I cut off the branches (hand saw, I don't dare use a chain saw) ...
Then hauled them to my branch stack, which is getting pretty tall again.
Now it looks like this again, all cleaned up and only a couple of branches with leaves toward the top.
