Rain gone but a little windy..............rain will be back this afternoon. Rain not helping the search for victims of the slide. Total dead 16 but they found 8 more so really 24 so far :(
They have hundreds of people looking. The officials are trying to keep normal everyday people from searching but then can't. They want to help find their friends and family members no matter what. I can't blame them it would be horrible not to know where they are.

It is up the hwy from us about 17miles and our town and the town after the slide are all searching and have set up command point stations as the town of Oso is just some houses and nothing left. It is pretty much wiped out. Looks like there will be only very few survivors from a town of about 200 people. We are down river from this and only bad thing that would happen to us would be if the river busts loose from the dammed up slide debris and floods the hwy down below our hill. We would be trapped up here but safe. Down below would be another catastrophe but they say this is unlikely to happen as the river is slowly seeping it's way out instead of flash flooding. It will be a long time before the hwy is clear of mud and debris and rebuilt. The rain coming our way soon does not help anything at all. Civilian volunteers want to help but search and rescue were not allowing that but families were not believing they were doing a good enough job so civilians broke through the barriers and snuck through and are doing it anyways. The civilians are the ones finding the bodies now, not the paid search and rescue people. Family members are outraged. It is a mess :(

It is just too much horrid amounts of death and destruction, that poor town sounds like it is almost all wiped off the face of the earth. Hate to say it, but is will be like "Frank Slide" here in Canada! It will become a land mark in time, cars will pass down highway in the future and stop to read the plaque on the side of the road... The town that used to be there will just be a "Historic reference"!

My daughter was dating a guy and a couple of his friends were up snowcatting somewhere they shouldn't of been because of the avalanche danger. Anyway they triggered an avalanche. One of them got buried and search and rescue wouldn't go in because of the avalanche danger. My daughters boyfriend along with other friends went in to look for him. They found him and he was still alive and it had been hours since he had been buried. They built a fire and took turns trying to warm him up with their body heat. He was one lucky guy that he had friends that cared.

weather sucks here too, birds are NOT singing, snow is flying, but at least it is nice and warm inside my greenhouse. Last night I was up into the wee hours transplanting tomatos and herbs and stuff.
I worked on my Many Fairy Berries Garden Village too. The little fairies and munchkins were huddled in their little tea light houses all snug like a bug while I tended to their little villiage!

Rained here during the night but has stopped for now. Need to get out and stack wood before it comes back. Sun might poke out a bit before it does tho so that's a good thing :)
Your little gardens w/ their fairies and munchkins are sweet Colleen. Makes me feel like I went to a nice new little world of nothing but good things :D
