Ahhhh, Spring. Yesterday it was up around 7C, with the sun beating down, snow melting and running down the roofs and the streets. You could actually feel the heat of the sun. Ahhh, Spring.

Last night, snowstorm, got 6" and it's now -10C.

If this keeps up I'm going to jump out my basement window, put a paper bag over my head or cut my wrists with an electric razor.

70 here today and the rain held off till the door was in. I wish I could have left the windows open longer to get rid of the fumes. Pond temps in low 50s and the kids want food. High of 28 tomorrow and snow Monday. The wind is howling now but the rain has stopped. Guessing I wont be doing any pond work tomorrow!

Little chunk of ice that would not melt is finally gone! The ice was really thick this year in the bottom pond, it was so thich that when it was minus 40 last month, I was topping up the pond constantly, like I had a leak or something. What really happened was because of the extra thick ice, like over a foot of ice, the pond lost water volume capacity. That pond is only about 2.5 feet in depth, so with the foot of thick ice, that left only about a 1.5 feet of water to top up the top ponds. Thank goodness the extreme cold is gone, and the little fish in bottom pond appear fine. I only keep little fish in that pond because of that reason.
Now next concern... the extra extreme cold means that the ice in the river will be extra thick this year, and now with the sudden warm temps, we could be looking at one hell of a potential ice breakup! I hear upstream in Lethbridge they have a state of emergency because the water is comming down so fast that the water is very muddy and they are running out of clean drinking water cause system cannot clean the water fast enough. Then the creek is even bigger today, after the really warm day yesterday, the Cypress hills are melting too fast. Lets just hope we don't have a ice jam on the river and a flood from the creek at the same time... Oh must quit the worrying and stressing...

I always panic at the first sign of trouble with water, I am sure we will be fine. Although in the 1950's this house was totally surrounded and flooded by water due to a massive ice jam on the river bend. It was a very cold year back then too, plus a quick sudden ice breakup. The Military from CFB Suffield was called to bomb the ice jam back in March 1951, to break up the ice jam.

A beautiful afternoon at 58F/14C. This is the WA state weather I love. I can still remember the day I was sitting outside on the lawn years ago in the Spring and thinking this is where I want to live forever.

Funny, I'd just woken up from a nap in rainy, drizzly weather (in the dream) to find that our opposite neighbor had built his house up to 4-6 stories tall and had an extension that came across the road over above our driveway. We didn't like it but both me and my wife said that at least we wouldn't get wet getting out of our car.

And meanwhile the UPS guy had delivered our package and (not kidding you here) and the next house down had become a new Starbucks. I haven't had my coffee yet, or my UPS delivery, so maybe that's why I dreamt that. And I better be keeping an eye on my neighbor who's having something done to his house.

I love coffee but I don't drink Starbucks that much. I think of them as like the McDonalds of coffee, ubiquitous and a little bland. Not that cheap either. We actually have a Starbucks in our neighborhood and I can think of at least 6 more that I can get to on my bike in 20 mins.
