We do have cold and snow coming but it should not cause issues.

Yep lovely day today and for dreaming but wouldn't want that one to come true John!

Spent the day stacking wood we had laying around that hubby finally split. More to do another day when it's dry again.

Clouding up a bit now..............getting ready for tomorrows rain

jw, with all the rain you get and the high humidity you have, how does that affect your firewood?
Does it cause any problems with your woodstove, like creosote buildup or anything?

We just keep our wood (so far all free) in the wood sheds and it dries out just fine in there, stays dry and then when we burn it we let it burn hot till it reaches a high temp (we have one of those magnetic gauges on our stove)and when it gets hot enough we then turn it down. We also have a fireplace cleaning brush tool w/ a long rope and my hubby gets on the roof and feeds that thing down and I pull the rope down and he pulls it up so the wire brush thing scrapes off any build up. We do that each year. Not much build up when we have done this if you burn it hot like that to start and sometimes we will let the stove burn hot extra long to clean it out also. And we have burnt pine and it is some sticky, sappy stuff and no problems doing it this way for that either. Been doing this wood stove burning for over 30yrs now w/ no fires except for when we rented our last house out for 2 years when we moved to Michigan. The renters burned all their garbage in the wood stove and burnt the stove pipe out and almost burnt the house down. That pipe was warrantied against deterioration for life and was double walled pipe. Those people were a thorn in our side w/ everything they did. They left a pot of oil on the stove and burnt all the cupboards. They dropped a heavy weight lifting bar and it went through the floor................need I say more :jawdrop:

I think we may be in for some big rains again. They are talking inches of rain in the mountains which will melt all the snow and send it all flowing down here. Warning us now about all the counties that may be affected. Dry right now so might get lucky and get my walk in w/o melting

It was an absolutely gorgeous day here today. Sunny, 65, light breeze. Went to my friend's house to help her with "spring cleanup" in her gardens. She is an avid gardener, and is 8.5+ months pregnant, and might I say she is HUGE. Her first baby (15 months old now) was over 9#, so I'm guessing Baby #2 is well over 10#. Anyhow, I told her I would help her out as there are things she really needed to get done now, not after the baby is born, and she is confined to the house for the first several weeks with an infant. I trimmed her large ornamental grasses, moved some irises, planted some Asiatic lilies, put up some pallets on her chicken pen fence, so she can grow vining plants up the sides without the chickens eating the leaves off and killing them before they can get to the top of the pen. I took 10 pallets over that I didn't want, and we used 7 of them on the chicken pen. Also sowed some lettuce seed for her near the chicken pen, she grows it to feed to her chickens. Then I came home and did some clean up of my lilies, irises, grasses, sedum, and other plants that had dead growth that needed to be removed so the new can grow without all the dead stuff showing.
Tomorrow, high is supposed to be 35, with sleet, ice, and snow mixture starting after midnight tonight. Mother Nature, I'm thoroughly tired of your teasing. Please, one way or the other. If we must have cold, then leave it cold until you can let us have warm. Grr .... tomorrow I will crochet, and finish the large afghan I'm making, so I can finally ship it to it's new owner.

Addy, I got my koi pond totally up and running 2 days ago, and to walk outside and see the waterfall splashing, the bog with clear water running out of it, pleases me to no end. The goldfish pond is crystal clear, can't say the same for the koi pond, though, very murky looking, and lots of algae growth on things. Will give it a boost of the beneficial bacteria product I like, Pond Perfect, when the water warms up a bit more, and it will help! Also, once the plants start growing, things will start cycling, and it will clear up. I see water parsley growing, and irises in the bogs. All other plants are still dormant, though.
JW, same thing here. It said an error on the page when I tried to click on the smiley button. Ho hum .... :) Haha, I did that smile with the keystrokes : - and ), and it came out as the pic! ;-) But the winky strokes don't make the pic ....

You are one busy lady CE and so nice helping out your prego friend like that. Glad your one pond is clear. Wonder why the koi pond always starts out cloudy? Must be the poopiness of them perhaps giving the algae a nice big meal to grow on. Yep I have to use my own animations as the others are dead for me also
