We went from 45 on Sat., beautiful sunny day, calm before the storm ...

To this on Sunday. I think everything we got was sleet, as there were no snow flakes even later on Sunday afternoon, just tiny pellets. Got about 2" of it, whatever it was. Ponds are frozen again, but relief is in sight by tomorrow, and very sunny today!!!

This is Yukon's BFF, Copper. He comes over each and every morning to play. By "comes over", I mean he makes the more than mile trek across the fields to come see his buddy Yukon.

Don't trust any thing I almost lost aggie and bert .I went out before bad weather and put on vinyl hoses to pumps in both stock tanks and even did what I was told to .I rubbed silicon lubricant on the and the out let to the pump where if the line freezes it will allow the pressure to blow the hose loose from the pump .1 tank it worked but where aggie and bert were it did not work .I wrapped both hose in pipe insulation also .I guess weight of snow or wind pulled the aerator power cord out .I have been all morning long carrying jugs of water up and down icy steps .I could not get the water to come on inside basement water outlet ,well guess what it turns out stupid thing has 2 turn off valves and the first one was on but someone turned the second one off that was back in the corner of the basement up near the ceiling that I did not see .After all that work .geeze .I looked once I got the top layer of ice on frozen and they are moving .Plus I am not sure but I think filter may have cracked before the hose iced up as there was maybe 15 inches of water in the tank ,if that .I pulled the hose loose from the pump and the pump is still working .It was easy to pull it loose because it just slid through the pipe insulation .So pump going again but no filter and stupid me did not think as soon as i saw it to pull the hose loose from the pump until after I already took down 9 gallons of water

5 degrees Fahrenheit {-15 Celsius} right now this early morning. Supposed to get to 26 degrees Fahrenheit later this afternoon.
Top and Bottom ponds have large holes open in the ice now, Big red 1500 watt heater unplugged and smaller 1200 watt now plugged in ponds. As usual the bottom pond still has ice because the water level is BELOW the ice in that pond, and so the water does not reach the ice cap as it is circulating BELOW the ice, not like the upper ponds, where the water is circulating at the ice level, because water is pumped to max level there and then water flows down to bottom pond. That is the only reason the water melts in the top ponds first, because the water is touching the ice, not BELOW the ice.
CE, I do not shoot the water sideways or anything like that, the top ponds the water level NEVER drops below the ice. That is way they melts so fast even if the temperature is still so cold. :geek:
Some bad Kitty Cat was walking on the ice as you can see in the last picture....

By then the hose to the filter was frozen because i pulled it out of the filter and no water was coming out .I have to go out and check them again soon .I also wired the plug to the aerator to the outlet so it could not come loose again .I gave the cord a wrap around the outlet also and wired that so it could move but not pulled out .Have no clue why I did not do all this to start with .Should have just left the hoses off the pumps and to heck with the filters DUMMY ME

yeh seems like this has been one thing after another .My truck is past due inspection so have to take that over to the garage 5 minutes from the house ,but weather yesterday kept him closed and today i have called but no one answers the phone yet .Not something I would wish on any one with a pond jw .I checked tanks at just after 2 A.M.and everything was fine and then went out at 5 A.M. and it was a nightmare .Just checked again and so far all the fish look OK but i think aggie is mad at me she looks at me but won't come over to me to be petted ..So guessing she is pissed .She gets mad at you she sure lets you know .Even bert won't come near me so guessing aggie told him let her suffer for this .She did it to us
