Happy Birthday to all the February birthdays, and Happy Anniversary to all the Feb. anniversaries!!!
Thanks, Catfishnut. I chose "Country Escape" when I had goats, and needed a "herd" name for their registration papers. I've carried it through to e-mail addresses and now my signature name on here. I had one person on a dating site say that he literally passed me by first time, solely by the name. I learned later, if he didn't like the name, he also didn't like the country, and I was right. Someday I would love to get a sign, or maybe one of those huge stones, that says, "Country Escape". I've loved living in the country since I got married, and would feel quite out of place at this time of my life living in the city. Someday, I know, I will move closer to town, or in town, but as long as I'm able to take care of my place, I want to be out here in the country. Just wish I had more nature closer, but I'm doing my best to draw in as many types of birds as possible. Even had a lone squirrel this past winter! Have no idea where he came from, but the closest group of trees is a minimum of half mile across open fields, large woods is more than a mile in any direction.

yep snow for tomorrow here and one report says 8 to 12 inches and other one says 6 to 8 inches so I guess I will know when it is done how much we will really get.My lonely shovel is ready to go .

Happy Birthday to all having them in February! We are taking my mom out for dinner tomorrow night as it is her birthday as well.

Temp hit -19 this am as I was driving to work. We are currently at 11F. Expecting 1/2 inch of snow tomorrow am then a steady climb in temps for the next week. Back to normal temps or above. Whoo hoo!! Hope that is the last of the bitter cold temps. Hopefully we get rid of the snow we have on the ground now. Might even open up the pond some! Sure am curious how deep the ice is on the pond. My bubbler and heater is over on one side so sure the other side is thicker ice. No idea how thick it is.

Feel for those who are expecting the snow and ice storms.

jw 100% chance of heavy snow starting tonight thru tomorrow. Prediction of 7 tonight and 8 more tomorrow. We will see when it is done.

Well went out and rubbed vaselin on my weighted chunks of styrofoam for the pond and put them in .I wanted to keep an opening in the ice in case the electric goes out .Brought in 2 garbage cans of fire wood and 1 garbage of wood on the front porch just in case

don't mind snow but sure don't like ice .Power lines don't like ice either.Oh my gosh just realized in having my cup of coffee ,electric out what will I do without coffee .OH NO

I have been busy painting and finished the back wall, painted that wall choclate brown, Have the other yellow wall still left to finish tomorrow. Spring is just not coming as quick as I had hoped for!!
I have be horriblly lied too!! I have been DECEIVED!!!! I Am MaD! Weather Man said we would have nice weather by now and I am NOT FEELING IT!!
Weather man said it would be above freezing by now, last week they said it was comming in and days and days have gone by and stlll freezing and a ton of ice on my ponds!! Should have used the 1500 watt heater last week cause man is the ground froze hard. Never seen so much thick ice on my ponds, but they are still running nice under the ice and I have a least a few good sized breather holes opening now that t has warmed just a wee bit last night.
Right now it looks like we are about 20 F according to my themometer out the window. (about -8c)

well got another propane tank and got the perculator out of the basement and since gas grill has a side burner I WILL HAVE COFFEE .I can be rather cranky without my coffee .snow will not stop my coffee

well added my milk cartons with lots of salt inside mixed with the water .Salt water will not freeze as fast and they are hung from my bridge and one from a pipe in the center of the pond .They are just over halfway in the water .If electric goes off I am hopefully prepared.Pond heater is plugged in also for now
