I'll wait until morning, see what is going on then before I decide on work tomorrow. I bet there were a bunch of bus drivers really ticked off this afternoon, as schools got out about the same time the snow got heavy. Stupid schools didn't let out early, even though the snow started at 1. Those bus drivers were going down county roads no plowed, hills with no rock, narrow roads and everything else. I would have been livid, and I consider myself a pretty good driver, too.
Got an alert on my phone that the winter storm advisory has been upgraded to a warning, and now they are saying 6-8" of snow, but it looks like the snow has let up here. Hoping that warning and higher snow accumulations are for north of me. Time will tell ....
And, I agree with Colleen. Lots of people try to be something they are not. I think ponders and gardening people tend to be "real". I don't have any ghosts in my closets, and am not carrying any extra baggage. That's pretty uncommon these days.

Watching our temps dropping down now. 34f now but they say down to 10f tonight. We just got a light dusting of snow. I say we got robbed! Wasn't even worth watching it fall.
Oh well I got my taxes done sitting in here in the warmth all day :sneaky:

CE, STAY HOME tomorrow.... take a sick day or something, weather too strange down there and I have a bad feeling that your roads might not be in good shape come morning.

I hate to tell everybody this, but I am not exactly what you might call "normal" seeing how Catfishnut brought the topic up.... With me, what you "see" is what you "get"!! I have nothing to hid. BUT if you are looking for normal, you may be looking for a long time, cause there is no such thing as "Normal" as I have looked for "normal" my whole life and still not found it. Sometimes those who "appear" to be the most "normal" usually yave lots of stuff hiding under the rug in skeletons in their closents... :)

Just so you know, the weather here right now SUCKS and it is only going to get even colder!! Got extra blankets on the greenhouse roof and that Fat Poppy won't get off the couch, just sniffing that minus 20 Celsius and dropping was enough for her!!

Colleen,

I am glad that you're not what they call "NORMAL" I wouldn't like you as well if you weren't a bit nuts! It's nutty people like all of us who come up with the neat inventions and fun things in life! Actually, we are all normal, the other people on the earth are "Abby Someone"

Abby who? ???

Abby-Normal. Yes, I'm pretty sure that was the name on the brain.

View attachment 65677 Kind of a cool outlook for this weeks weather here in Cedar Bluffs/Fremont, Nebraska...

MtPond, I assume that you are going to turn your furnace up and open your windows and doors and build a bonfire out back to help warm the air coming down from Colleen's place before it reaches Nebraska?

:)

Lol Gordy. :ROFLMAO: Why dont you throw some heat this way :). We dropped 10 degrees in less then two hours. I'm done with this cold but we still have a couple days to go before it starts to warm up.

Love the fan I need one of them :). If those states can share some warmth I really can use it, I'm thinking maybe JW could send some warmth our way too. I'm at -10F.:mad::mad:

If if gets too cold, we might all have to move into one house and divvy up the heating expenses. Maybe even sleep in the same room or even in the same bed! I know, I know, I know, but John... you are NOT seeing me naked! :) We'll have several bathrooms with a working lock on each door! "OCCUPIED"

Seriously though, I think that many families are going to have to do this.
Global warming my ass! We are heading for a mini ice-age.
All it would take is the right volcano to blow and we would be in a world of hurt.
If the Yellowstone super caldera erupts, all of North America including Canada and northern Mexico will probably be laid bare.
I know that I won't live through it here in Nebraska. I will be covered in five to seven feet of ash. You cannot grow crops in this ash as it has no organic carbon components, it is just rock and silica. It is sterile.

My doomsday prediction is that Yelowstone erupts, Krakatoa and Taupo and Tambora follow and a large meteor slams into the earth or several small ones do and the entire globe is set afire and filled with noxious poisonous gases and tons of soot and volcanic debris. The human population will wither down to about 100 million (or less) . I predict that this will happen between tomorow and the next 10,000 years.

That time frame may seem like an eternity to most, but it is a really an extremely short time span considering the age of the earth and the age of the solar system and the age of the galaxy and the age of the universe.

The Universe is so infinitetly vast and so infinitely small that no one can conceive it. Our minds do not comprehend the scope of the size of the universe in which we live.

Addy,

I believe it is because everyone here is so enthusiastic about their ponds that it makes my overindulgence and passion and obsession seem normal. We evidentally all have the same love for the outdoors and water and fish and nature in general.

Hippy Gordy

When we walk with our pup there is the reaction of how cute, I love dogs, love the sun, love the ocean, to..................why do you have a dog on the sidewalk where I am trying to jog.
People with critters in their lives, ponds, gardens, seem to have a different aurora around them. You connect with strangers with the same loves in their lives with ease.
Us ponders do love the outdoors, plants, life, dirt, mud, rocks, dead branches, fish, critters in general.

We share that with our virtual pond friends all that love of life.

Well if ever spring gets here, and if I can stay warm and not freeze to death tonight, escape super volcanic activity, space rocks falling on my head, mini ice age, H1N9, H1N5, H10N8, H7N9, slow death by Fukushima, attacked by a wild cougar or mad coyote at park, or if I get hit by a car crossing the street, and avoid ""1001 Ways To Die" !! (have I missed anything?) , THEN I am going to build a new fence out back as soon as the ground is defrosted and build another upper extention to the pond that "may or may not" "infringe" on my hubby's garden!! SO THERE!!

I survived all that and another day of hard work moving and unloading heavy frozen bread dough and escaped the wrath of b*tchy bosses, Ya!!! It's going to be a good two days off!! :)
