Those are some really awful temps for you Texans, and ice to boot! That's the worst of the worst when it comes to winter danger. I'll take 2' of snow anytime over ice. Good luck, hoping it melts quickly for y'all!
It was -1 during the night when I looked at my phone, dogs wanted to go outside. Brrrr .... then they didn't want to come back in, so went back to bed for 30 minutes until they decided they'd had enough of the cold. Here we go with the see-saw again! Southerly winds this morning tell me we are going to warm up, and sure enough, getting up to a whopping 26 today! Sat. 30, Sun. 44, then ..... Monday 9. Geesh .... right back in the toilet. At least we're getting the nice warm temps during the weekends, which I certainly appreciate, Mother Nature! My pond openings are much smaller, only 1-1.5' in diameter now, and struggling, but stream and bog still running under the ice, and warmer temps coming so hang in there my fishy friends.

yes, we had some colder weather a few weeks back - but no precipitation then... not like this time.
We will hit some warmer temps this weekend, (somewhere in the 50s to 60) but back to below 30 on monday or tuesday...
i leave my waterfall on all the time - no fear of ice on the pond here, but i do wonder, does leaving the waterfall not introduce colder water into the pond? i have some hiding spots for the fish in a deeper area - so they have cover and deep water... i do see them swim over to the waterfall once in a while even in the colder temps - so they must be like your dogs :)

Pond is frozen. Turned pump off during cleaning yesterday so will have to wait for thaw before restarting. Put Southwestern blend by Scott's bird food in feeder. Boy, they sure like that blend. Have corn staked on a little tree perch for squirrels. It gets eaten within a few days. Sun is bright yet very cold. Am so pleased with the way every thing looks. Makes us proud. Can already tell we will have to re-sod St. Augustine some areas in the spring. Last years heavy yard work and natural blank areas by trees really show up now.

God bless you all. Even in times of woe remember that there is sunshine coming your way. :)

Plenty of nice sunshine and blue sky! Weather prediction says a high of 50f or better today. You guys back there east of me I feel sorry for but you guys can keep it and I shall really enjoy this warmth. Cold in the 20's at night but I'm oblivious to it then :biggrinangelA:

That is a lot for a breaker and you should have the breaker checked and maybe replaced if it overheated .I had to have a breaker replaced because it was loose and kept tripping turned out it was defective and could have cause a fire .
