It was a very nice day today, but I spent it looking for my beloved Yukon. He was home Sunday morning for breakfast, have not seen him since. Wasn't really worried about him until yesterday morning, being 2 days gone. Posted his pic on all the local shelter websites, called them, posted info on 2 local radio websites and called them, and called 3 of the 4 local vet offices (the 4th one was closed yesterday and today). Today I printed up flyers with his pic and my ph# info and handed it out to people within 2-3 miles of where he was seen yesterday around noon. Lady called me while I was at work, and even though I rushed to the area, he was gone. She didn't call until 1 hr after she saw him, as when she got home, she looked for lost dogs and found his pic. People in house very close to where the lady saw him confirmed he was at their house, trying to come inside with their dog, but then last seen heading across the field toward the interstate. Talked to a postal carrier yesterday when looking, and tomorrow will drop off flyers at Altamont to give to postal carriers. He went from my house which is 9.5 miles southwest of Altamont to east of Altamont, total of almost 13 miles in 2 days. Turns out he was running with probably the neighbor's Golden Retriever and they met up with 2 more dogs, which happened to be laboradors, and the 4 of them were spotted Sunday afternoon or evening. Copper came home at 11:30 that night, and I suspect Yukon followed the labs and when he woke up he was confused and just started running. He was seen at the lab's house on Monday evening, then in Altamont on Tues. at noon. Wish I could get a lead of where he has been since noon on Tues. I'm sick with worry. Three hours driving around and handing out flyers. Figured get it in people's hands, as no mail went today. If I had done this on Monday, might have him home now. But, I never would have thought he would have gone that far either. Never would have looked in that area. Ho hum .... praying he finds his way home soon, or back to the house where he was yesterday. I brought our large dog crate with old straw in it, so he will hopefully smell that and crawl inside and feel welcome. the people are really nice and said they will call immediately if he shows back up there. I hope he is smart enough to back track, instead of keeping going farther and farther away. And, I hope someone has given him some food, or maybe he has found a dead animal carcass to feed off of. Pray for his speedy return, please!
And, to make this long paragraph fit on this page, it's supposed to snow tonight, and next week, 3 days in a row with below zero lows, and 2 days of that not above single digits for the HIGH! Yikes, I think we will feel like we are in Canada!
