Seeing your wonderful snow and neat decorations is making me feel all festive inside Colleen. Is it too early to put up my Christmas tree? Cool new home for the birds

I tried to hide from the rain but it found me

60, sunny, blue sky, wind blowing like crazy. Pulled the pond pump today, shut things down for the possible winter, beautiful day to take care of the pond so just did it. I probably could have waited until december, but now the pond water is nice and still for the fish (water 44 right now).............they are calling for maybe just maybe snow monday night, we will see it is too darn warm in my opinion.

no aerator until we really drop in temp.

I checked ... again ... the skimmer pump on the koi pond. Working perfectly. Took apart water line at one-way valve, and the valve is not clogged or stuck, in fact, it's not really working properly but water goes through just fine. That means that the line after that, going into the bog, is somewhat clogged, as not much pulling power of water into the skimmer, so I know the pump is struggling. Ho hum ... I do NOT like the idea of having to pull the water lines in the bog, which means emptying out all the pea gravel. Probably should have made larger holes in the PVC line.
Today started out windy and 50's, but then the wind layed, AFTER I came in and took a shower, and it was very nice. Darn, brother decided too late he would like to go for a horseback ride. Told him next time he needs to decide this a day ahead, so I can get horses locked in front paddock. When I go out to catch them to ride, they KNOW it. Don't ask me how, but they do. They run like crazy horses. LOL So, no ride for us, but I did get lots of counted cross stitching done with the bright sunshine helping me out all afternoon. Tomorrow I'm off, so will get outside again. Woohoo!!!
And, no, I don't think it's too early for Christmas stuff. I may just put my outside stuff up tomorrow, if nothing better to do. Don't have to light it all but can get it ready. :blueflower:

We used to put up outside lights but then each year we got lazier and lazier so no more lights. We put up inside stuff only now.
Weather too dark out right now and hearing no rain and tomorrow should get some sunshine. Well that was a rather screwy sentence wasn't it? Oh well it's getting late and brain is telling me to go to bed

Weather.com says it's 47 right now, heading up to 58, but rain, then down to 27 and rain/snow showers tonight. I better get outside before the rain starts. Been making some headway on my counted cross stitch Christmas tree skirt. Still have probably far too much left to do to even dream of getting it done before Christmas for my son, but that's my goal. I think this is at least the 3rd year I've worked on it.

Bad birdies won't stay in the cage, they just use the cage to sit on and poop!! They like to fly around the living room in a circle, plus it is good for them to fly cause they can shake off the birdie dust that they get each time they grow a new feather. Caged birds don't look so good to me somehow. This way if I forget to feed them the male will fly into the kitchen looking for food!! The birds also keep the bad spooks away from the window too!!! If there is something strange out the windows, they make a loud screaming sound to notify me and then the puppies rush to look out the window to bark! Team effort envolved to protect the house!!! Ha ha ha

JW get out the Christmas stuff, little at a time, it is fun to decorate for Christmas! I need to get the front porch at deck out soon!!

Winter is here, weather is flipping cold!!! It was only 5 degrees this morning and yesterday it snowed all day so I had to get out the shovel!!! Pond heater is now plugged in as of this morning! The three connecting main ponds were still all flowing nice, but ice covered 90% of the pond cause the darn weatherman lied so I never plugged in the heater last night! Defrosting nicely now..... :)

Your weather banner says it's 1 degree F, Colleen! Yikes, you sure can keep that cold weather up there. We only get those type of temps seldom, and then they don't hang around for long.
I need to head outside, see about moving yard decorations into the little barn for the winter, and then I will officially be done putting my gardens and ponds to bed. Not happy about that, but that's how it is. And, I think I have decided that when it gets really cold, I'm going to shut off the waterfall and fountain, and only have the bubblers going. Not sure if I will shut down the stream, though, since it's against the ground, maybe won't get quite as cold. We shall see. Won't have to use the heaters for a while yet, I sure hope!

Yes, it is easier to just use a bubbler and then less worry with freezing pipes and hoses, wintering a running pond can pose a challenge for sure, as I have been there and had troubles years ago with pumps that slowled down and froze up cause filter was too small and clogged up, but now I think I have worked out the "kinks" and now have very large pre pump filters. Last ten years seem pretty easy, just run pond and plug in big heater and get big heating bill!! Ha ha ha!

Hubby making a nice mess in kitchen for me to clean up, have done the dishes three times this morning already!!! Hubby sorting out all his garden seeds and right now he is happily playing with his fancy organic corn seeds, and they are very pretty corn seeds too!!

Wow, Sissy, is your husband sick like with flu symptoms, the reason he cannot eat anything but broth, or problem with his throat? Darn, I'm so sorry to hear he is continuing to have problems. I know he has a wonderful home "nurse", though, and you take good care of him. The plants and puppies can get neglected, the hubby ... not so much. Hope he is feeling better and gets back on track soon to ease your stress. Thinking of you .... :biggrinangelA:

no internal bleeding again and it is all due to the medications he takes after his heart surgery .so far total he has gotten 8 pints of blood .He has to have another more intensive ECG and then a cat scan to see what is going on with his heart .They think the blood is making the heart work harder but the blood thinners were causing internal bleeding .It is like a circle .He has more ulcers in his stomach again. He is back in hospital for the third time since the 28th of October .
