OK, but that's crazy then that they did the GFI, which is required for outside outlets I know, and didn't tell me that I could not run a heater (or two) on it, since I specifically wanted the boxes to be installed before winter, so I would not be running a heater on an extension cord! Geesh ... goes to show when a woman asks for something, she doesn't always get what she wants. :grumble: And, since I'm learning as I go, I didn't know to specifically ask and make sure they told me it would work! So, how do you run heaters if you have GFI outlets outside? One heater runs just fine, no problems. It's when it's really cold, and I have 2 heaters going at the same time. I suspect when they both kick on at the same time, that's what flips the breaker. Not sure, but since it will work for a short period of time, then trip, I figure both thermostats kicked on at the same time, pulling too much juice.
OK, time for bed. More in the morning .... :goodnight:

CE I have a evil deep dark confession about my heater ..... it is not plugged into a GFI circuit, put a pad lock on the front gate so no one gets in and secure everything well! I had too much stress with GFI circuits shutting the pond down in the minus 40 degree temps years ago, and decided to not run the heater on GFI. I unplug the thing in the house when ever it is not required. When it is on, the pond gates are closed and puppies not allowed in. It is the less of two evils, risk freezing the pond solid with a GFI, or risk little just and close and lock the gates.

Option two, get heaters that draw much less power and just keep small hole open, that would be cheaper in long run for you CE.

Any thing like that should not be plugged into gfi and should be on a 30 amp or 40 amp breaker .I noticed her breaker has a built in gfi .I see the yellow button /

Evil evil women Colleen!
My electrician husband, did not put our pond equipment on a gfi, it was at one time and tripped it too often. Now just on a good breaker. All wires well protected.

yep forgot about the wire as that is important .My house has a whole house surge protector on the panel box upstairs but none on the one in the basement .I have 6 outlets for my pond and they all have separate breakers 4 of them are 20 amps and the other 2 are on 40 amps .My son rain all the wires to the breaker box in the basement .I just got a check today finally from the whole house surge protector maker .The storm we had that hit my house 2 times within an hour blew it out and it damage my fridge .They sent a new one also right after to the electrician and he came out took the old one out and sent it to the company and they paid for it all under the warranty .Pretty good if you ask me .It was all put in by the utility company here .It took since last august to get the check but hey I can't complain .Home depot came to pick up the LG range today and refunded my money for it .I think I stepped in some good dodo today . happy feet :helm2:

Gosh all this electricity talk I can't even begin to understand! Glad I have a hubby who does mine or I'd have to invite Ryan or Sissy to come visit me as they really seem to know what they are doing.

Sissy you gonna have to start cooking outdoors now in an in the ground dirt oven and on the campfire? You are stove-less now aren't you? Which one are you going to buy next and when you figure out the best one let me know cuz I may need one soon. You have tried just about every one out there now haven't you? Mine melted trying to clean itself a few years ago but they came and mended it w/ new parts. Thinking it won't last forever and will never use the self clean on an oven ever AGAIN!!!

Alvarero, I seen that on TV, so how are the orange trees going to make out? Was it a hard frost, did you have to scrape the windshield on the vehicle?

Addy, don't know if I can do that with this tablet, I am so lame when it comes to computers..... going to find someone to help me!
Amazing what you can do with an old Christmas card when you need to improvise a windshield scraper. All the trees look like they made it ok. Even our tomatoes didn't suffer. It was a short frost and the ground was still wet from the rain earlier in the week. I think it will be 80 something tomorrow. I hope my mini bog continues to keep my water clear. I have some string algae that is working very well at keeping the water clear. I remember there was a member who told me that string algae could equal less green water. Here is hoping since I don't want to buy another uv light. I find them to be kind of a hassle.

I tried the Ge double oven one but some one screwed up on the design .The rack in the upper oven is to high and you look in the tiny window and you can only see the bottom of the pan .This figidaire has an offset rack for larger items .They had it on sale for 1349.00 when I got it and it regulary sells for 1799.00

Well, if string algae keeps your water clean, then last year I should have left it alone, instead of trying to eradicate it, and then causing problems with my good bacteria when I used the peroxide. I'll try to remember that this year when it starts growing again, and I'm out there winding it around my hand daily as it was growing at least 12" a day it seemed.
Cold temps this morning, now seeming to stay steady temps, upper 20's this afternoon and evening. Bad stuff heading our way tomorrow, but they keep pushing it back. Yesterday they were saying it would get here early Thurs. a.m., then they changed it to around noon, now they are saying 2, and the worst part 5 or 6, which is going to suck, as that's when everyone will be trying to head home from work. I don't mind 6" of snow, but I DO mind 1/10" of ice! That's what they are calling for now, but I'm hopeful it will change and move out of our area, and just leave us with rain. Truck has 5 - 80# sand bags in the bed, and I'll get water softener salt bags and maybe a couple of bags of dog food to help weigh it down tomorrow afternoon. I won't stay and wait if the freezing rain starts, I'll head home early to avoid the rest of the people trying to drive normal speeds on it!

Yep, they keep pushing back when the snow will get here but keep upping the amounts. I gave up trying to keep track. I filled up the jeep with gas tonight and made sure my ice scraper was in the jeep and my gloves. The drive to work will be normal, but coming home will suck and Friday morning will too. I should be used to it since I have lived in Iowa my whole life but I get a bit nervous each snow storm. I know my driving skills and what I'm comfortable with, it's the other drivers I worry about. There are a few spots on my drive that make me scared to meet another car on during a snow storm.

Snowing in tucson! It hardly ever snows there, and 3 inches too!
I warned my renters in arizona to protect the pipes, last cold hit one busted and flooded some of the downstairs area, they did not think of it when it hit 21 degrees there. But I think after that flood they are more aware of cold and pipes now.

We have another wintery mix coming, i.e. they have no clue ..........rain, sleet, snow is what they predict. Take your pick.........lol
