16 right now, wind chill 8 it is going to be a cold am walk for me ........... Tomorrow supposed to be colder not getting above mid 20 until next week. And maybe snow, our snow yesterday never came. Yeah killing some of the bugs that decided to hatch! My mom was polish, dad a mix of german, english, irish and others.

This is the coldest we have been in two years, i.e. back to the winter of 2010 when it was cold all winter.

Making sure the feeders are all full for the lil critters, give them some extra boost.

The aerator is doing a good job in the lotus tub and the big pond, so far staying open. Water temp is 35 now. Ice just at both ends of the big pond, middle totally open.

My koi pond still has skimmer running the bog, and the bubbler. I'm sure the big 4200 gph pump just quit again yesterday, thus the frozen waterfall. This morning, only about a 1' diameter hole in the goldfish pond, but that pump still keeping the hole open. Skimmer is continuing to run the stream, and big pump is running the bog. Ice covering both of them (bog and stream) but I can see moving water underneath. I put the heater in the small hole on that pond, just to help out that pump, since it's only a 1600 gph pump.
10 this morning, -4 wind chill I think the tv said. Cold, that's just all there is to it! Kept my Boston in last night, and will now until it gets warmer, at least 30's at night. She has a heated pad outside, but when it's really cold like this, I just hate to leave her out. Only did so far since my vacation was planned, but now I can let her stay inside again. :) She loves her crate with fluffy bed and big towel to curl up in.

Sunny and dry again but bet that old fog sneaks in again today. Every morning for a week or more now we wake up to frozen frosted everything. Everything is white and beautiful!
Wish I could say for sure what nationalities I am. Adopted kids are robbed of their heritage, at least the ones that have closed adoptions. I am hoping my DNA test will show where I came from and maybe some blood relations. The lady that did her test that might be a family member would not be a sister tho, might be a cousin tho. I do have a half sister tho as I found my blood mother but like I said she was adopted as a baby also.

P42S, oh, feel sooooo sorry for you with a broken leg! Heal it up fast, so you can go outside and enjoy your nice temps! Or, use those crutches and sit outside to "heal"!
Sissy, I found that as long as the daytime temps were 35 or above, I had no problems with ice. It's when the nightime got down to below 15, with high winds, that I was doomed with the ice. But, once the ice forms it will take a long time to that it out, as it's about 3-4" thick right now. The fish are happy under it, though, I'm sure. Saw them all swimming around on Sunday when all was thawed out, was sure nice to see them again!

Welp, went and did damage inventory tonight from the bog line freezing. Not too bad, the ice split the joint going into the ball valve. I wasn't sure what I was going to do so I just cut the pipe that feeds the bog right where it tee's off from the main line and put a rubber cap on it. It's close enough to the main line where it won't freeze but I left enough room to put a coupler there once spring comes. I can't tell that the heater has done any good besides running up my electric bill. I was expecting to find a area of open water from the heater but that's a no go. Maybe if I take off the floating ring and put it on the pond bottom.

I've had these little black bugs all winter on the pond. They look like those gnats. I guess it would make sense since when I go trout fishing during the winter there are still hatches coming off the water that the trout eat.

lol we are at 15 right now, one degree warmer than you Ryan. So far my aerator is doing a great job keeping the water open. The water is a warm 33, poor fish it was almost 50 last week. Wind chill a warm 5

Agree Sissy, sure hope it kills off some of those darn stink bugs, so tired of them.

I have some lines with water in them, but the ends are open to allow expanding of the ice. Maybe I will brave the cold and check out the lines, tomorrow
