thing is how can they match dna on people who have no profile done or were born before dna was introduced .

They say only cold day here will be tuesday rest of the week it will be in the 50 's .Cold air is coming down from Canada but not gettin this far by the looks of it ,but you never know weatherman could be wrong

Colleen, JW is the one looking for family members. LOL Sissy, DNA is VERY advanced. Doing paternity testing with the job I have (I don't do the testing, I schedule it and see the results, though) I found that a dad can have his DNA and prospective child's and see if he is the dad, mom doesn't need to be tested. So, knowing this, if JW and her possible sister have sent in DNA, they will be able to see if they are related. I'm not sure how checking all other DNA will tell you if there are other family members out there, though. With the privacy act, the DNA lab won't be able to tell you WHO is close or possible family member, just how many. But, I guess if one of those possible matches has sent in DNA for trying to locate people, then they may be able to let you know. Like you probably signed a waiver allowing them to tell your sister if your DNA matches hers. I'm really excited about the prospects and hope you find out soon that she IS your sister, and you can go from there. Good luck!
Oh, and this being the weather thread, yesterday's 56 for a high was far from what we reached today! I think maybe 30. But, I'm ready for the cold again. Insulated my Skippy filter container, so we shall see if that helps keep the top from freezing when the weather gets really cold. I think I did a pretty fine job, too, if I do say so myself. LOL Putting pics on my thread so as not to bore those here.

CE, Yes I knew JW was looking for family but I keep mixing the two of you up subconsciously, like when I mess up and call my sister Glenda "Bev" (the other sister) and you know the difference, but a "mental block" occurs? Does this happen to other people? I know my mom calleds me the other sister sometimes and we all seem to do this in occasion in my family.... does this mean I think of you guys as "family"? Werid Or What?

Just hanging indoors and "chillin" ha ha! It's chilled off to just 3 Fahrenheit right now, but not as cold as our January can be, this is considered a mild winter so far. Have not needed to plug the truck in yet this year! I usually plug in the truck when temperatures get down to about minus 10 Fahrenheit, so far I have not even dragged out the extention cord yet, which is very unusual for this time of the year. But I am not complaining, and neither are the puppies, and Bear found it warm enough to roll in the snow and make "snow bears"!

We are dropping dropping dropping in temp, those darn canadians are sending cold air down to us! Looks like 10-11 at night low to mid 20's during the day for the next week. I need to turn the pond aerator back on to keep it open. 43 today with possible snow then cold............................

Forecast 54 high 40 low. Currently 41 under cool clear predawn skies.

Going to hearing aid shop this afternoon. Time to get my hearing re-checked and whiz bang hearing aids recalibrated.

yep today supposed to be in mid 50's and then tomorrow cold air gets here and only supposed to be 39 and then another day or 2 of that then back to mid 40's .Only around 60 days until spring gets here

I sure liked the sunny and 56 it was here on Sat. far better than the sunny and 19 this morning here. Temps were dropping and wind howling all night long. Waterfall froze again, so probably the pump was partially clogged. Should have checked that before the pond froze over, but I procrastinate yesterday, thinking I could do it yet this morning. :sad: Aerator is keeping the lower 1/3 of koi pond running, and hopefully the skimmer/bog is still going, can't quite tell for sure with ice in front of the skimmer and where the bog returns to pond. Stream is running, so goldfish pond skimmer is still working, and the pump bubbler on goldfish pond is keeping it open in front of that skimmer, too. Glad I put some water in each pond yesterday, to help keep the ice thickness above the opening of the skimmers. Supposed to get down to single digits tonight here. NOT going to like that at all! Our normal winters net us usually only a week or so total below 10 degrees at night, and I think tonight will be at least 2 for us. Come on spring!!!
Almost forgot (LOL), Colleen, when my youngest sisters come to visit, I'm always calling them my daughter's name, or visa versa. I also called my brother my son's name while on the cruise. So, yep, I do the same thing. The time I remember my mom calling me by the wrong sister's name (there were 4 girls) was when she was mad, and then she would fire out all the names, make sure we all came to attention! :razz:

Yesterday felt like it was April or May. Don't know the official temp, but I was warm, outside in a long-sleeve shirt & jeans. Jan/Feb is historically our coldest time of year, here in NW LA!

Yes Spring is coming for sure! Temperatures much warmer then normal here too and wait till you see the cheap Fairy houses I found at the second hand stores!! You will have to wait till later cause I have to run to work now!! He he he, I am going to have a fairy garden around the front pond this year and I am sure all the kiddies from next door will be extra excited to see my new garden junk!

yeh goodwill and stuff are a good source here and so is auction zip .com as you can find all the house auctions going on and usually they have a list and pics of things at the house auctions

Awesome balmy 14 degrees F. With a wind chill of around 6 degrees F. I just love the cold! Not!
