I know what you mean about chasing cats. Mr gunner will almost choke himself til he passes out trying to get cats when he is on his leash in the front yard. When he is in the back yard he will find a way out and go visit other dogs around here but he always comes back home. When he is ready he will come sit by the front door and wait for us.

Sorry about your poor kitty CE
Sun poking out from the clouds today. Cold in the high 30's. Have to transplant some rose bushes that were sitting in pots. Think they will do better over winter in the ground. Brrrrrrrrrr, not wanting to go out and do it but need to save them from frozen toes! Hope they make it.

Sissy, my sister and her husband moved from WI to AZ right before the market dropped. She couldn't stand being away from him, so they bought in AZ before house sold in WI! That was first mistake, as market fell through the floor, and what they thought was going to fully pay off their new purchase and extensive remodeling in AZ, turned very bad. House in WI sold for about $250-300K less than it would have been worth the year before they tried to sell. Took 1.5 years to sell, and they squeaked out with just what they had in it. So, house in AZ was bought high, then they did lots of remodeling, and now they are in a position where they have to sell, her husband lost his job. They will this time actually lose over $200K in what they have in the house to what it is worth now! I just cannot imagine losing that kind of money. Guess I don't make enough to even fathom that. We are talking about homes for $500K and up and my little abode was $115K. LOL
I was going to try to post a couple of pics of my kitty's grave, but my computer/internet/wireless router is all messed up. I have no idea what is actually wrong, got new router yesterday, "Just plug it in and it will work" ... famous last words as my computer does not recognize it, and no help until Monday looks like. Grrrr ... Anyhow, got my old flag down finally, rope was tearing, got stuck on the pully, so had to have neighbor boy over to get in my tractor scoop so I could get him up there to repair/replace things. New flag sure looks wonderful now, though, and Teddy Bear's grave is just below the flag. I'm not sure if I defaced the old torn up flag or not, but I lovingly wrapped Teddy up in it before I covered her body with dirt. I know you're supposed to dispose of damaged flags properly, but I figured that the timing was right, and I wanted her to have a nice blanket in her after world, so used the flag. :)
Tried several times to post the pics, but will have to wait until my computer is working properly, as they will not download. Same thing on Facebook. Grrr...

CE that's awful to loose such a pretty pussy cat, feel bad for you, but are you sure it was the little terrior or beagle? My dogs like to chase cats too, but they stop when they get close cause big bad Bear got beat up by one mean ally cat once, scratched him good on the poor nose and that was enough him! They stop chasing as soon as the cat stops running, and then they back off, scared of those needle sharp claws! Sure it was not a bad coyote? They are very very mean and rip, tear and kill! Although if it was a coyote it would have most likely eaten it. Who knows what happened, sometimes you never know....

Sucks big time to loose that much money, I just can't imagine, must be just awefull! Oh NO ..... I had another awefull thought, what if they need to move in with you! Nothing like a nice brother-in-law and extra lovely sister moving in.... now that would scare me!! I can barely tolerarate my "know it all" Sister, never mind her EX hubby! Had my one sister stay with me once before years ago, and that was when she was nice, did not mind her back then, but now she just drives me since she turned into a pushy vegan! Things are so bad cause of the "vegan movement" that the bakery where I work does not sell mince meat pies or tarts for Christmas this year.... they call them "minced fruit" now so they don't offend the vegans, no kidding either! ! Sorry Sissy, I like you :) and don't mind vegans really, just can't cannot put up with my pushy :( mean older vegan sisters, they can drive me over the "edge"!

Addy, I just can't eat instant potato's, can't stand the taste..... had them once and that was enough for me. Made a new pot of fresh baby potatoes, threw the old ones out. I have to my potatoes with the skin, smash them all up and whip with cream and butter. I usually don't eat green potatoes but I had run out of the red ones and stuck a couple of the green ones in, peeled the old potatoes last night as a replacement, but they were still too lumpy for hubby, so now I just threw them out cause that I have fresh little baby mashed potatoes. :)

buurrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I like the cold, but not a dose of cold like you get Colleen!
I still have my house in arizona, ce. Renting it out, but the market is climbing back up slowly. I had it appraised right after hubby died, 899000k it sank to 350k Right now finally climbed to what we paid for it, not including upgrades, shop built etc, but what we paid for it so yeah! If the renters move out we will be flying there to fix it up and put it on the market. So far they pay the rent which pays the mortgage, so all is good.

raining and warm here today, well sort of warm 48

Well I was lucky as I sold in NJ just before every thing went down hill and paid 174 thousand and got 510 thousand 10 years later but the house was neglected when I bought and yard was overgrown .Remodeled the whole house inside and out .My first house same thing paid 30 thousand and sold it 10 years later for 139 thousand .This was in the good times of housing and now would not do or make that kind of money now .The wade rd house paid 27 thousand for it and after all mikes hard work it is now worth 59 thousand ,but that is not my house it is there's .My house here was 79 thousand and not sure what I would get for it now and would hate loosing money on anything and feel really bad for people that do .Used to be a house was a retirement fund and now it just seems to be a ball and chain in lots of cases .56 here but sure is foggy out I cannot even see the road in front of my house .Supposed to be 64 today .I grow red ,purple and yellow potato's and still getting lots of them .

I feel warm at 37F here when I think of poor Colleen at 5F...........yikes! It has gotten down to -6F here in the past but not for long. Puddles all around outside from the rain but looks like it's tapering off right now. Need to go to neighbors and let their two pups out for a pee soon. There son is into soccer and wrestling and they have long drives on Sundays so I do the dog thing for them. They do the cat thing for us when we need them.

Bought our house in 2000 and it's way too big for us. Need to sell and get something smaller. We'd prolly break even if we sold now or maybe make a little so we will wait and hopefully things will go up. zillow.com says it's appx worth now is $357K
I tried to gray out the street # that's why the messy splotches on the road

My sister is a realtor, so she is well aware of the prices of houses, and I still cannot imagine not just staying where they are for another couple of years. The problem, though, is the loss of job of her husband, and her being a realtor, money has been slow coming in, too! Not very many sales since she moved there. She was top seller in WI and sold millions of dollars of houses every year there! Moved to AZ, and almost immediately had no sales. And, having their house in WI losing money day by day until they sold 1.5 years later was really sad, too! I seem to have had much more luck with buying houses than my 2 sisters!
Still cannot post pics, my computer or my wireless or my internet is pretty sucky lately. Not sure which, hoping to get it figured out tomorrow.
Oh, and it's 55 here at 12:30 in the afternoon, but cloudy, rainy, damp outside. I got .75" of rain the last couple of days, so didn't need to add water to the ponds after all.
Pushed up the edges of the liner on the stream so may be able to keep the water running longer this winter, with ice forming eventually. Will do a "rebuild" on the stream in the spring. I left the extra liner intact, just tucked it under, so will heap up the sides as I should have done originally and create more of a berm on the edges, less likelihood of the water going over the edge. Also noticed that where I walk across on the rock, it has sunk down some, pretty close to seeping over the edge there before I built it back up some today.

Five years ago our place appraised for 315 and then when we refinanced this summer so we could build a shop and finish the basement it only appraised for 170. Pretty sad.

We got our house in 1987 when market crashed, guy had bought stocks on the margin and the bank did a margin call and he needed to sell house fast! We offered 39 and he too it, back then he wanted 60 but was desperate. Small house now assessed at 140 so we lost nothing! House was paid for years ago. Small is better, we pay much less to heat, less tax, more money in pocket. Plus small house easy and fast to clean! We are just a small family... me and hubby and two puppies!

I feel a chinook coming on, wind blowing again and feels warmer, currently 25 f! Big difference from last night! :)

Ok talk about small, our real estate friend sent this to me today.
I thought at first, wow that's a long video but I really got engrossed in watching every minute of it. Amazing what one can do w/ such little space! We've talked about down sizing but I don't think I could go that far but then if you live in New York city space is hard to come by:
