Yes but wells do fail. they dry up or another neighbor taps into your feed
A well is our only choice and it has been going strong for almost 23 yrs w/no issues. I prefer drinking our well water to drinking city water w/chems in it. Our neighbors are all wonderful and it would be a long way for anyone to tap into our private well. They all have their own.

Actually, J.W., a water vein can run for long distances, sometimes miles. It’s very possible someone could tap into your water line someday. Not likely at this point, but still possible. 🥰
I also used to live in the country and had two wells. I loved it! The year my water line pulled apart outside the koi pond in January, I was never so thankful for cold well water to refill the 14” deep pond since freezing temps were coming the following weekend.
Our barn well would run dry if the water got left on, it was inky about 30’ deep and not as good of a vein … or the neighbors also were pulling from it! The other well only ran dry when I ran it for hours filling the first pond, but it recovered within an hour.

Lots of different aquifers down there. Might not even hurt if someone did dig into one of them. There are so many! We'd never know and wouldn't cost us anything unless it somehow stopped us from getting water. Never had ours run dry yet.

We don't have well water, but wanted to comment on water quality. We recently got a whole house water purifier, water softener and Reverse Osmosis in our kitchen. I can't get over the difference in the improved test of our water and especially our coffee !

We had rain for the last two days and it was wonderful. Really gave our dry everything a nice free watering. Us too free great tasting well water, just pay for the electricity to run it.
Sun coming back today and will be w/us for several more till some rain again maybe on Friday. We had the warmest May ever this year! Loved it!
I am jealous j.w....We need rain SO badly...90 degree days and 80 degree nights and no rain....We are in a bad draught...I need to get the hell out of Dodge...NOTHING on the market....I look a couple of times a day....As soon as I put in " 5 acres and a small house" my search is almost zero and it seems that what does come up is just awful:(

How's about this one near me! It's only a bit over a million or so. Just over 5 acres.

Our well needed fixing, acidic water ate the threaded thing at the top, water poured out when using it. I was fluffing the pond ,walked by the well cap and heard it.

For years we doubled filtered thinking we were fighting fine sediment. I asked if they could help remove it. Found out it was iron. Acidic, and hard water. So long story short paid for a filter, neutralizer, softener.....no more brown filters and love the soft water.

The two neighbors close to us, get zero iron.

Any outside lines still get non treated water.

@Tula I did that in Arizona, we were on septic, but city water. What a difference it made.

Our well water is wonderful in taste. Even with the iron.

And YEAH it rained a bit about 1/4 inch.

We'd miss you down here. We're dry as well, just up the road from you.
