A warm 7f this am.
Wishing for that here again before the winter ends but not for the next several days as the sun is out and showing it's big bright face.
I wish; we're at 19 now, which I suppose is almost normal for this time of year. I don't see any warmup (30F) until near the end of next week, but they're wrong so often, I only use the weather service as a guideline now!Wishing for that here again before the winter ends but not for the next several days as the sun is out and showing it's big bright face.
Still a bit chilly at 37f but will rise to the mid 40's View attachment 146576
I doubt it's very thick at all; once ice starts, takes continuous days below freezing to get any thickness. Used to skate on the neighborhood pond and had to have at least 2 straight weeks of sub freezing to get the required 4" of ice so you'd not fall through. Once iced over, there's some bit of insulation now as the outside colder air has to transfer to the bottom of an ever thickening ice barrier, which has air embedded, which slows that process.Darn cold here also, first time in years I have had the pond breathers on, first time in years the ponds have frozen over and stayed frozen over. I should drill the ice and see how deep it is. Still a few more days/weeks of freezing.
Good chance, the mornings have been below a lot with a now and then bump up during the day.I doubt it's very thick at all; once ice starts, takes continuous days below freezing to get any thickness. hope you wear something reflective and stay alert; I don't imagine cars can see much of you in the fog when you're walking,,,Fog, fog and more fog! Can't see much in front of me when walking out there. Brrrrrrrrrrrrr, cold too in the 30's again.
I don't think we will see the sun today, just more fog View attachment 146626
Always walk facing traffic and wear reflective vest, wave at cars (they have less tendency to want to kill you if they get to know you) and be ready at all times to bail into that side ditch at a seconds notice! I don't wear a hardhat or carry a toolbox tho unless it is one of my great finds of the dayhope you wear something reflective and stay alert; I don't imagine cars can see much of you in the fog when you're walking,,,
