Woke to 8 degrees

You are woke? Had you pegged differently ;)

It's gonna be a nice dry day and 44 now. Might even see the sun

I think Michigan gets wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more snow then where @addy1 perches on her high hill up in the clouds.
Michigan, you can't even go outside for a walk for 5 seconds at times View attachment 146542
This is how I remember my time in Mi............................View attachment 146541View attachment 146537
too true, though I'd say the past 20 years are maybe half the snow issue as the previous few decades when I grew up. I think last year, I snowblow-ed 4 times. That's a very low amount. This year? Once. And January is heading out...though February can be the snowiest as you don't get those huge snowfalls with the kind of cold we have now. Usually has to be closer to freezing, upper 20s.

We were there in the mid to late 80's and I never seen so much snow in all my life and ice storms were horrific

yeah, we've had our snow spells, though the most I can remember was maybe 1972 or so; we had 24" and no one was going anywhere. Schools obviously closed. I remember walking the two blocks over, shovel in hand, to shovel out my grandparent's house, my dad, me and my brother. Hard just to get there let alone shovel. That was also the ONLY day I ever got a day off from school due to closing. In those days, schools didn't close for anything. Not as bad as 'in my father's day, we WALKED to school, FIVE MILES every day, and there were wolves, etc' but close!

Looks like you chose the right state to settle in!

Washington state has it's ups and downs weather wise and other unmentionable ways not allowed to talk about on this forum. We have rain of course, mostly showery type and once in awhile flooding occurs. Not much snow on the west side of the mountains. Go east and you get tons and lots of heat in Summer there. Mild pretty much here all year. No poisonous critters on this side either. Not enough heat for them. Think we will stay here, family all here so we put up w/the politics etc. Thankful we left Seattle many years ago tho! That place is a garbage heap now and ashamed to see it the way it is where I grew up. Will not ever darken it's door if I can help it unless a miracle occurs!

that's the way I feel about Detroit; since the riots in '67, it has never recovered. The reasons obvious (to me) but don't get me started.

Glad you have milder weather and for sure, do NOT live in the city proper. I don't envy you (your state/politics) and feel sorry instead. Maybe it'll get better in few years (here's hoping for ya!).

We drove through Detroit while there and boy what a mess! Looked like bombed buildings all boarded up like a ghost town all over the place. Was scary to even drive through there. Rolled up our windows and locked the doors and made a quick exit. I think Zombies lived in there like The Walking Dead show!

That is about to happen to Seattle they have lost Boeing. Just as detroit lost the auto makers. If microsoft pulled out to it would be even worse then detroit could ever be.
