I worked hard in yard all day and sun was sure hot. Had to drink a gallon of water and came inside to cool off. Still more work ahead. Must take advantage of my days off. Koi ponds are all sparking in the sun and big koi were begging all day for dog food!

Finally cooling off after 2 days of 90+ temps! I noticed that the filter outflow was down on one pond. I have been trying to clear out the algae and have removed all the waterlilies so they can be repotted. I have my pumps in 5 gallon buckets with the dollar store laundry bags on the outside. Both pumps were plugged, not with algae but koi eggs! Seems my fishies got busy this morning. I have only 3 adults and 12 1-2 years olds in that pond. I was planning on rehoming 6-7 of the younger fish and now looking at having to do the same thing in 2 years! It's too early in the year to be dealing with this!

I feel your pain. I was shocked one of my koi spawned yesterday.......way earlier then last year. I'd planned on making DIY spawning mats so I could remove more eggs from the pond......but they got an early start - ugh!

Very black cloud looming over the hilltop. Maybe it will rain finally. We had a ton of snow all winter but then it suddenly turned warm and all that melted away. We have had little to no rain since. We need a good pounding of rain as the little bugs are bad...

Warm, sunny, light breeze. My new water lilly has little leaf bud things started, I saw one tiny baby fish, my mystery lilly has another leaf coming up. I just wish it would flower!

Sun finally came out, yay! I took 3 smaller oj goldfish and put them in my bathtub pond to eat the skeeter larvae. They can stay in there till they get too big then they will go back in the big pond and other smaller ones will take their place in the tub pond. Winner, winner skeeter dinner
