For those of you stuck in winter still, with snow and ice, here’s a pic to turn you from frozen blue to green with envy. Proof we have hit spring here! At least this week! It may go back to winter later, but for now I have flowers blooming.

I don't want to see it! Not until I have that weather here! :ROFLMAO:
There are rumors of 50's and maybe 60's toward the middle of the month, but that's still a week away so we'll see what happens. I really need Spring. This winter wasn't too terrible, some winters seem to take forever, but even the "good" winters still go by slowly. Especially this time of year, when you know spring is coming, but it seems to take forever to finally get here. I'm always ready for May weather in March.

Lol, don’t look! I’ll be posting more when they bloom. It’s a slow start right now, and I’m happy I got any blooms at all. I’m still finding bulbs that I need to dig up, so I’ll have another pot or two done soon. I’ve been pouring over gardening magazines, eyeing plants I want to add, but I need to solerize the weeds gone first. I want them now darn it! I’ve got like $40 not already slotted for other bills, I could buy a few iris and lilly bulbs!!! But no. I should spend it on stuff for the pond instead, to make the filter I’m going to do.

Bought the totes and silicone to make a small pool filter. This will reduce the worst of the gunk in the water, so I can get semi clean water to the raised garden beds. It’ll basically just keep the pump from clogging. So now I get to drill holes, fine tune how many and what size, so that inflow and output are equal. I’ll use polyester batting as mechanical filtration, debating on biological. It needs to be light weight.

Grrr. Caulking tube is faulty, coming out the bottom. Time to break out gloves, and box knife and use finger gobs to hold my dividers in place. I think I’ll have to do a test run in the tub so I know if I’ve got the flow rates right. Pics to follow... maybe tomorrow! I may be a messy soaked mess today.
Here are the frames for my raised beds. I’ve got them set up on the west side of the pond. They’ll get full sun from 10ish to almost sunset. Around sunset the pecan trees just west of them will reduce light. But once the plants reach full size, I’m sure some will get more light. I’ll have tomatoes in one of the bins, might try some corn, stuff like that. The plan is put a bottom in about half way up, so plants will grow in over 1’ of soil in the 4 smaller bins, and I’ll try aquaponics in the big one. I’ll have herbs and leafy greens, maybe a melon and a cucumber to see if it works. Excess water will drain down, collect in a catch bin, and back to the pond. For the 4, I’ll try water only as needed, or slow steady drip, to minimize excess water.

I found an injured butterfly yesterday. I guess a bird tried to eat it. I moved it to my flowers. First one I’ve seen all year. Pond temps were over 55.

Awesome. Won't see any Swallowtails here for at least another two months.

I found yesterday’s injured butterfly looking dead by my flowers, on it’s back, legs curled in. Picked it up and it moved. Tried to put it on the flowers, it said no, it was staying with me. Brought it in and convinced it to move to my indoor plants. It’s abdomen is squished a bit, it’s just waiting to die. Poor thing.
