@MitchM but your a concerned nice old cranky coot View attachment 104127:smuggrin:
Ha, thanks!:)
I wish political discussion was allowed.
I can't think of a more important discussion to have than who should lead our society.
I have healthy goldfish and minnows. Thank ....goodness for that.
;)

I'll be happy when this smoke leaves us. Irritated throat is not fun.

I'm now hearing gunshots outside.
Is it poachers?
Is someone setting their sights?
Do I let my dogs out in the yard?

I don't like this time of year. It's like I need to hide indoors until Dec 1 when hunting season is over.....:cautious:

Yes, someday it will end, and in the meantime I will promote education so people can make smarter choices on who to elect to make development decisions.
The more I look into the decisions made for building development around Houston, the angrier I get. Houston was built on a swamp that could absorb most any storm.
People that did not have the benefit of education voted for politicians that promised them what they wanted to hear at the time.
I think if people were better informed about the reality of where they lived, they would make smarter living choices.

...maybe that's what making me turn into a cranky old git....

.
Mitch; I fear what you're seeing in Houston and Florida is a reflection of what will always happen; that is, no matter who is in charge (or NOT in charge), there are too many that make decisions based on selfishness and stubborn stupidity. How many KNEW the storm was going to hit Houston and still stayed? How many in Florida? In a nutshell, that's the world we live in. The best you can do is educate yourself and stay out of the way of those that don't. In too many instances, its the choices WE make that bring us down, not someone else's.

Oh, cool here, 60s and 40s at night; more or less typical SE Michigan weather. September is one our two rainier months and we've had some of that too.

Thank you Lord, the smoke is gone! We can breath and be active again. Still didn't get any rain but they still keep saying today we will get some. We do have some clouds so maybe we have hope. Only 57 and lucky to make it to 62 today.

Breezy and cooler.
About 85.
The storm is still about a day away.
Today I had to disconnect and bring in my pond filter and waterfall box.
A little later and it will simply be too windy to venture outside.

I have a spare 100 gallon fishtank if needed.
Flooding here has never historically happened.
But I'll be prepared.
I'm one of the few that actually have flood insurance.
Maybe I'll go out and lower the water level a foot?

Good idea lowering the water level and good too on the fish tank. Glad you have insurance!
