I wait to do the shelves until the spring. the massive oak i have not far from the pond, those leaves don't like the vac. But after soaking for 4 months they soften up they definitely are still holding up and not decaying, just much easier to get them out of the pond then.

GBBUDD, For some reason this isn’t letting me reply directly to the message above.

I had this problem with the tubing. Helps if you don’t completely twist the tubing around when inserting barbed fittings. Just enough to open the coiling to get the fittings in without stressing or rupturing the plastic. If you have a heat gun you can warm the plastic enough to where it’s more pliable and easier to work with.

He typed the reply in the reply box, so the system does not see that as a message you can reply to. You could copy paste his reply and post it that way.

We are going down in the 30's at night now but warming up to the 40's. Did this just become the weather thread? We sure tend to run amuck lately

We climbed to around 47 and the thin layer of ice melted.

Today my pond is doing well! I put it in a year ago. It is 13 feet long and 8 feet wide, runs 12 to 28 inches deep and holds about 1100 gallons. This pond is in central Florida and our "winter" weather slows plant growth and the water lilies have gone dormant. My yellow bellied slider turtle, "Big Bertha," loves her log. There are about 20 fish in the pond and several frogs. I built the waterfall four months ago. To filter the pond I have a 1250 gph submerged filter and a 2700 gph pump connected to a external canister filter and a waterfall. The sound of the waterfall is very pleasant. I used a 22 inch spillway at the top. I am enjoying it immensely!

Thanks! I used to keep planted fish tanks up in New England so I had some experience with aquatic plants. I am also an avid gardener so a pond is a great combination of my favorite hobbies. Plants in Florida do grow fast! I have to trim some of my shrubs every 2-3 months!
