Oh! Wow! Rofl! The shark! Shes huge and hubby too. Seems like all your other fish need to be kept in a fry tank like people do with mollies until they are big enough to not be eaten! Lol

Yellow flag iris blooming in 100 gal stock tank. Root system has become extremely dense and heavy. Was not able to pull it out to place in deep end of pond to over winter . Lilly pads popping but no flowers yet. Last year at this time flowers had surfaced. I'm hoping the below ave temps we are experiencing this month has delayed the blooms

I remember pulling an iris out of a pond with my truck and pulled the whole liner out with it .Even in my gardens they have gotten out of control again .I thinned them out 2 years ago and some I did again last year and guessing I will be doing it again this year .Even the deer won't eat them

@Gordo33 , How did you make that shelf at the left of your picture? It looks like something I could use.

I used plastic light diffusers purchased from Lowes. I zip tied it to a frame constructed from 1/2" pvc. I did not glue the pvc . The frame is 4 ft X 1 ft. X 8 inches deep. The diffusers are easy to cut with wire snipers. I did this to allow the roots to act as a filter in the pond. Plus the fish have a hiding place. The iris rizhomes are zip tied to the diffuser and the roots grow through the openings. I have the same set up in my water fall tub with 3/4" pvc frame to anchor the yellow flag iris.

2 seasons ago I trimmed the roots back in late March and was able to pull out the frame to place it in the deep end of the pond to over winter. I did not trim the roots last spring and couldn't budge the thing last fall so it stayed in the waterfall tub thru the winter.

Well, I have had the worst of success with fish. I made my pond 30 gal and dumped 4 fish in it. 2 reg blackies and two fantails. Those all did well and thrived. All I have left now is the two blackies. The two fantails, I fear were lost to predators, snakes or jays. I also bought 10 cheapy goldfish expecting a few wont make it. I was right. 90% failure rate at this point. Only one is thriving. So, in the end...for my new pond, all thats left is 2 blackies I never see and one goldfish from the new batch. Kinda discouraging tbh. i hope as the pond matures and balances out, the success rate will be higher.

I thought your pond was bigger than 30gallons, I can never remember who has what.......... you could put a net over it, see if the fish survive then.

We are still in March temperatures, the lilies stopped growing, one bud has been sitting as a bud for a week now. Still waiting for some sun and warmth to convince it to open. Sitting in the 50's and constant rain.
