Well I'm back, I survived the frozen tundra called "North" and came home to some happy creatures and a beautiful pink and yellow lily blooming in the pond. I'm also pretty sure I saw a few new babies. I got all my Christmas decorating done. Tree lit up... and then dark since the 1st string of lights went out. Replaced the bottom row.. Ahhh tree all lit up...
Then dark, another row dead
Then all lit up
Then yeah you guessed it. I feel like I'm in that Christmas movie where the day just keeps repeating only it's me decorating the tree with lights.
In other news I'm no longer at the In-Laws so life is sweet and full of twinkling lights. :singing::couchpotato::happy:

So far this year we have had just a dusting of snow. But the nights started getting down into the teens just before Thanksgiving. Fairly solid sheet of ice on the big pond, pumps turned off and air stones keeping a hole open. The little pond/large bog is running through the winter for the first time this year. It is protected by buildings on the north, east and west side, only open to the south. So it stays warmer than the big pond in the winter time. It has some cool ice formations though coming off the pots.

It's supposed to warm up into the H50's/L30's next week so I am hoping a lose some of the ice on the big pond before the real cold sets in.

Taken at 7:45 this morning.
Peaceful and beautiful.
Very thankful that we live in one of the most fortunate countries in the world.
The pond is at the bottom of the picture, can't see it yet.:)

I am interested to see what everyone else's pond looks like at 7:45 am your local time.

No picture, but I did want to note that it's December 5 and we still have not had ice on the pond. That's a record! It's supposed to hit 50 degrees today and tomorrow, so we're way above normal for this time of year. We've had two measurable snowfalls - one topping 16 inches - but nothing long lasting since the ground is still warm. This is going to be an interesting winter, weather wise!

The ice on our pond is thick enough to walk on now, but it's mainly from the effects of the wind and close to freezing temperatures.

Wow! I've had ice on the pond a lot already, including this morning. Most of it is really thin, but we did get a thicker layer with that snowfall a couple weeks ago.
