cat food dog food and bird see .If you want more plant crabapple trees .They love them .I watch the deer out here eating the crabapples off the trees and they will actually kick the trees with there front hooves to knock ones off when they eat all the ones they can reach .I had to cut pieces of corrugated pipe to wrap around the tree trunks so they would not damage them in the winter .

Usually squirrels will not venture into area's where they don't feel safe. He prolly has it exactly planned out where he can jump to for safety and yep he's getting food somewhere or he wouldn't be there :cheerful:
Wish we had some here on our property. We have the big trees and some Hazel Nut trees but guess they found better food sources elsewhere. Once in a great while we will see one scamper up a tree and then all gone.

Well, besides the cat food, I have no idea what he would be eating within close to a mile. If he has found the cat food, then so be it! I would love for him to stay here, but not sure where would go for winter, except the big barn in the hayloft, where I'm sure my cats go! We shall see if I ever spot him again. Now, if I can get pretty song birds to show up here, like blue jays and cardinals, etc. then I will be happier! No woods, and they all like woodlands for cover. I'm always excited when I get animals and birds that I normally don't get to see here. Maybe in time they will come and stay, since I'm beginning to create an area where there will be places for them to hide and live and eat. Fruit trees are planted (2 apple trees), now have 2 oak trees, a ginghko, hard maples, and several ornamental flowering trees - 2 flowering crab and few red buds (although don't think the last few make any food for squirrels or birds). Time will tell. I do know the butterflies, bees, frogs and toads have all decided my yard is a playground. :blueflower:

Well, this morning sucks big time. Let my little Boston Terrier out this morning, knowing full well she was in prime heat, was texting with the breeder about bringing her this afternoon, went outside and she's locked up with the neighbor's German Shepherd. I'm so furious with myself! The dogs were just doing what nature tells them to do. This dog has been hanging around here long before she came into heat, and I should have known. It was less than 2 minutes, I'm sure of that. And, I guess the stupid side of me thought he was too big for her. NOT! Now I not only will lose the money from puppies in the spring (was going to switch to breeding her for spring puppies rather than fall/winter ready to sell puppies), but I will have a vet bill to get her a shot so she aborts any possible puppies. Then, she will remain in heat another week longer than usual. You can bet I'll be getting in touch with this dog's owner and asking them to please lock him up for the next couple of weeks. I would never shoot him, but I may very well shoot AT him, although I doubt that will scare him away longer than a short time. Ho hum .... feeling very frustrated with myself, stomach hurts. :banghead3: :bye2:

Yikes Colleen I hadn't heard the news about that yet. Sure hope CE is ok out there! I would be scared to death if I saw one of those horrible black twisters coming at me. I know ce has a basement and guess that is where she would go if she had to.

Yep, I'm ok. I watched it the whole time. Hit about 4 miles from me, just across the road from a good friend, back half of house is gone, along with 2 large barns, and several electric poles. She didn't even know anything was happening!!!! Awful winds here, now the winds have switched from the NW, been from the S all day today and yesterday, so the temps will drop back to more normal temps. Been in the 70's all day, no wonder such bad storms. Tornadoes hit all to the north of me. Thankful I was not hit, but sorry I missed getting it on video, cause neighbor said she watched it hit St. Elmo (NW of me about 4 miles). Here are two pics I took toward the end of the storm. Love how the huge black cloud dominates the sky ... first out my front windows, then out the back off my porch. Sun was shining throughout the end of the storm, but looming clouds all around.
Last bit of the storm from front door.JPGSame clouds looking out to back yard in sunshine.JPG
Winds are minimum 25 mph here, but they say gusing up to 38 mph. I say it's at least that windy here. I sure wish I had some sort of wind sock that I could put up to show the wind speed! My flag and windmill show the direction of the wind, and I took a video of my windmill literally spinning on it's axis! The winds are changing by the second here, unbelievable!!!!! But, sun is out, no more clouds near me, all the storms have moved to the east of me. Careful Fishy, it's heading your way!!!!
