It is app driven, once you use it a bit it gets easier, the problem is my 8.1 lappy did not like the update to 10, even with updating all the drivers some of them still do not do well with win 10.

My better half has Win 7. We were discussing upgrading to Win 10 with the store computer geek, who felt it could be a bad move! Apparently not all upgrades go well, and a lot of complications can crop up. Sounds like that may be your problem, Addy.
As for being App-based, what the he-- is THAT? I don't own a cell phone (never will!) and have no idea how to use an App! Heck, it took me long enough just to get the basics of a computer, and now I'm supposed to start all over again??

I can keep going on w/Win 7 just fine for a few more years. Never had 8.1 and love 7. My hubby is going to do the 10 so I will see how it goes for him. I have a 3310 photosmart all in one printer that's several yrs old and I'm afraid it won't be compatible w/10. Can't get drivers for it anymore. I have till the 29th to upgrade to 10 for free. Anybody really like win 10?
I feel your pain, j.w! I thought I could just re-install my Photosmart C4680, but NO.... it doesn't work with Win 10! Going out later to find a new printer. MORE $$$$$!

Refuse to upgrade! Our new home computer came with it and I honestly tried but dumped it and went back to 7. Maybe you can't teach an old dog new tricks.
Can you even GET Win 7 any more? Every desktop we looked at came with Win 10.

@HARO I bet you can find win 7 disc somewhere but why bother it will be over in 4 yrs anyways as Microsoft is not providing updates to it after that which will leave your computer open to attackers. We will be stuck eventually w/all this new app stuff. Some people still use XP and it is not getting updates but they chug along w/their programs that they have to try and protect them. My computer is not broke and I am not ready to chance that Win 10 will take away my printer and other programs and I do not like Apps. There are help links from Hp that might help you John w/your old printer. Try the printer install wizard and see if it will work:
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02073861

If you can still get drivers you may be able to get yours to work @HARO
It says mine and your model # are able to use Win 10 but I can't get new drivers for mine.

Here is conversation I had w/Hp person on their facebook page:

Me:

Is my Hp Photosmart 3310 All-in-One printer going to be compatible w/ Windows 10
------------------------------------------------------

Hp:

Hello there Janice, Crystal here from HP Tech Support. I saw your message about wondering if your Photosmart 3310 will be compatible on Windows 10. After checking out the compatible printers for Windows 10, it does say that it is compatible however, there are no full feature drivers and software to download for the printer. I would personally say that your best bet would be to run the Windows Updates and run the Printer Install Wizard to see if they can help install the printer.

Links to help:

Printer Install Wizard: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02073861

Me:

Thanks I haven't installed Win 10 yet and did not want to if it would not let me run my printer. Think I may just stick w/Win 7 cuz I'm not going to run out and buy a new printer unless someone tells me for sure it will work w/Win 10.

Hp:

Sounds good!

@HARO since I don't have Win 10 and am happy for 4 more years of keeping it I think I will pass on Win 10 to be safe. Will be interested to see if you get your printer to work tho :)

Not switching to Win 10 @peter hillman
I agree, I'm keeping my Win 7 as long as I can!
Hope they don't really get rid of it in 2020 but if they do I'll try to keep plugging away at it w/some kind of safety protection.

OK, time for an update. After about 8 HOURS of failed attempts, I can now use my printer on Win 10! The first six tries failed miserably (printer was connected, printer wasn't connected, printer couldn't be found, etc., etc., etc......) THEN it finally installed TWO versions of itself, and pronounced one of them as the default printer. Several attempts to print failed, giving only the info "Printer is in an error state" (Alaska? Florida?) Finally I switched to the OTHER installation as the default printer, and now it works flawlessly! (y) Deleted the no-go one to prevent any coup attempts, so we should be alright.:joyful: Mind you, I'm not blaming ALL of this on HP! Any eight year old could probably have done this procedure in about ten minutes, but for an old fart like me, it is exasperating!! :shame:

What's wrong with Windows 10?
At the risk of receiving an Inbox full of abuse, I upgraded months ago and haven't ever had an issue. It's much faster to load than either W7 or 8/8.1.
It's never crashed, printer, scanner, webcams all work perfectly well with it. OK, it looks slightly different, and does a few management things slightly differently, but it just works.
I use W7 on my PC at work, I use W10 at home - prefer W10.
At which point I'll stop and get my hard hat and flak jacket....................:nailbiting::nailbiting::nailbiting:
