I think I will groom the plants, lower the lilies, etc etc. Even though they are still blooming think they are on their last flowers.

tmann...no i dont bring in plants, but have considerred it...but the cost of running grow lights to keep them alive keeps me from doing it. unless the ones that fit flourecent fixtures would work for hyacinths or lettuce. but ive read nor heard any evdence saying they would.

I am doing a bit of an experiment with some water lettuce right now. I took some pond water and put it into a pot, took some good looking lettuce from my pond and broght it inside, then put a 23w CFL on it for 12 hrs a day. I will replace the water every 4-5 days with fresh pond water, will let it get to room temp before transferring the lettuce to the new water. So far look better than they did before I brought them in. I have been doing a lot of research on planted tanks and people grow the dwarf lettuce and give it away, they are growing this stuff with regular florescent bulbs some use t8 or t5 bulbs.

I grow it but don't use a cfl or a grow bulb I put it by the window in the basement and at the bottom of the tub I put pea gravel and just add fresh water when needed and it is not pond water .Last year they got out of hand and I just filled the basement sink up with water and they took off even stronger than ever .It gets a little chilly down there but my basement is well insulated .I don't fuss over it just let it do what it wants .This year I bought at an auction 2 galvanized tubs to put them in .
