She is near the river that might flood, down stream from the mud slide. But where she lives is safe from danger. She is asleep at this time lol.
hey JW are you in the same arlington near the mudslide thats happened, just been watching about it on sky news, very sad, and the reporter was talking to people in arlington, and i was sure i knew somebody who lived in arlington.

Thank you for thinking of us here in the area close to the terrible tragedy. 14 dead so far and lots missing. They fear they will only be doing recoveries now and no rescues. 100 plus missing. I am safe up on a hill here. The rain has arrived and will make it much worse for the searchers. The river is only slowly leaching water over the plugged up parts and that is a good thing. Busting loose all at once would be bad for all downstream.

I am so worried about that river, JW. With the rains coming again, like you said, and if the blocked area is seeping, any moving water erodes the earth around it, thinking eventually it will push faster and faster. Man, I sure hope that doesn't happen. It would seem logical to me for them to open it up where they could control the flow, and get that water moving at the speed they want, but maybe that's not possible. Praying it all goes well as there are so many downstream that will be affected. :(

They say it should be ok seeping out slowly but I too am afraid if it rains for too long and too heavy there will be more slides in that area. No one should ever have been able to live in that area as it has had much trouble in the past and now I don't know if they will allow any survivors to build there again.
Look at this picture and tell me............would you feel safe living here? Those hillsides there are so unstable it isn't funny! Pure sand!

Wow, are those some homes on the bottom left edge of the pic? And, I see the road on the top left, but it goes to ... nowhere now. I see lots of green in the "slide" part, so wonder if any of the trees that were once on that mountain will stand back up and grow ... now in the valley?! You know that the houses with the beautiful green area on the top of the pic will lose their value and no one will want to ever buy them, for fear of this same thing happening to the hill behind them. So sad, so very very sad. Lives were lost, and nothing anyone could have done about it. Pure nature. Wonder how they will ever find who is all buried under that slide ... how many cars were on the road that got pushed with the rest of the mountain ... :(

Yes CE,here is the same area showing houses in the dark squares. They have no idea how many cars were on the road but the ones they did find were all crushed. Some are buried way under the mud. More bodies were recovered today but they haven't said how many yet. They have a list of people that are missing as reported by friends and family. I would never ever live in any area near any hillside like this.

Wow, and can you imagine the feeling of those just outside the boundary of the slide, how lucky they feel, and also how sad that they lost all their neighbors. I bet they had beautiful homes, down there by the river, at least a week ago they did. I've just never seen a whole mountain side collapse like this. How in the world did it last so long before this happened, I wonder. After all, mountains are not built in a day. It's all really crazy, and sad.

This is not the first time this has happened there. They had a bad one there at the same spot in 2006. They supposedly secured everything w/ engineers etc. and let them live there again. It has happened before 2006. Think in 1988 and then back in the 20's and 30's. Never should be living there. The hills are made of sand and showed continuous sign of collapsing. People just recently said they noticed big clumps of wet sand falling down the banks and into the river. If anyone goes there to rebuild again they are taking a big chance. Maybe they won't allow them to rebuild now, I don't know. It is a beautiful spot but very unstable.
