Really strange Lou but glad you didn't have to pay although I don't understand why you don't have to pay and I like you am wondering who is going to pay for it? Wish you would have asked...................inquiring minds need to know
I had to ask and was so surprised. This firm relies only on insurance payments. The patient never pays. What a blessing.

When I worked at the hospital, I went to many management meetings, DRG's ran the payment system to the hospital, insurance companies would only pay what medicare would pay. So your bill could be 25000 the hospital might get 2500, might. If you were a self pay, the best thing to do was negotiate to make a payment based on what the insurance company will pay. If you offered up to pay that amount in total, they would cut it even lower, cash talked.

Colorado Flash Flood AMAZING Video: Man Rescued from Overturned Car during Severe Flood Boulder Colorado (CNN) -- Emergency crews in Colorado braved racing flood waters early Friday, rescuing a man from a partially submerged car, live on television.
The scene unfolded in video from CNN affiliate KCNC after a night of torrential rain that left at least two people dead amid rock slides and flash flooding that collapsed homes, put dams at risk and forced hundreds of people to evacuate.
Firefighters on a yellow dinghy bobbing in the swift waters rescued the man from the overturned car about 12 miles southeast of Boulder.
The man, whose identity wasn't immediately known, walked out of the water with the aid of firefighters. He was taken away on a stretcher. His condition was not immediately known.

When my daughter had her 4 wheeler accident, lacerated liver, several fractured vertebra, both lungs collapsed, it was a huge bill. She had the previous school year worked as a teacher's aide, and thankfully kept her insurance through the summer! They covered a lot, and since she was "low income", her income was less than $12,000 the previous 12 months, she had to pay nothing more! That was at a trauma center, where she was flown by helicopter. Her insurance paid a huge amount of the helicopter bill, but there was about $5,000 left, and they settled for something like $400 or $500. And, since we have 3 life flight helicopters within 100 miles of our house, it doesn't pay to "sign up" with any of them. Turns out if you are a "member" for one of the life flight companies, and they are not the ones to carry you to a trauma center, you're SOL. I want to help them, as they are angels in the air, but that made me upset when someone told me they had been members for 20 years, and then when they needed it, they got flown by a different company, and all that membership money meant nothing to the other company!

We have one sort of close fire department,we give them some donations for rebuilding, new vehicles etc. They do send out membership requests, but we just donate once a year instead. They came pretty fast when my dad was in trouble here, we had just moved him in and he collapsed one morning.

Wow, Sissy, I had no idea you drove your husband to the hospital when he was having his heart attack! Was he still able to get himself into the truck on his own? You surely didn't carry him, did you? I'm impressed, too, with you getting things done at the hospital. Sometimes you have to take the bull by the horns to get things done! Good for you! Yes, when you know what is going on and it's your own loved one, you are going to be in high gear! Only once did I drive really fast on a country road, I think I was going 75, and those roads you're doing good to go 60! I was chasing a car that had scared the crap out of my babysitter, who was only 15 at the time. She didn't know who he was, and he kept knocking at her door. She called me from the closet, and I drove like a bat out of hell to get there, and saw him pulling out of the driveway way ahead. I caught up, got his license plate, and then called the cops. Turned out it was someone her family knew, and it was not a scary thing after all, but that poor little girl sure was scared. She was home by herself at the time.
