Your first course is the most important, be sure this is level and the paver base is very well compacted this will save you much headaches down the road. I am not sure which zone you are in but you may need to go 6 or 7" down then put in your base rock.

We are zone 5. I will probably be using 4 courses with those retaining wall pavers if I need to put the first course in the ground. I was originally thinking 3 courses, but am reconsidering... need to study the directions again.....darn it!!

I think the construction blocks are about 8" high so your finished height will be 16". I am not sure how high you need to go. You could always use the construction adhesive on those blocks also.

Sixteen inches is really more than I need, but I don't know what else to use....not necessary to spend the money on the decorative ones if we're not going to see them...

Place filter fabric directly behind the wall extending from the bottom of the base course
to the middle top course. Backfill each course with drainage aggregate and extend 6
inches behind the wall. Compact. Organic soil or clay-type soil is not recommended for

backfill material.

I don't need to this part, do I? The liner is going to be coming over the top course then a cap finishing off the top...

I have driven my tractor/ truck over dirt to compact it , works great. You don't need the drainage behind the blocks, since that will be your bog area. That is so water will run off and not freeze and push the block.

No I don't see why you would need the filter fabric.

Am I kidding you about what part? Driving your SUV to tamper the base rock down? No I used my truck when I added 3 feet to the top of my driveway, just be sure you don't drive into the pond. Now I wouldn't do this for the part right next to the pond. If you don't want to use your SUV or can't take a piece of the stone that you are using and use that as a tamper, pick it up and sort of slam it to the ground with a little force just try to be sure it hits the base flat and not on a corner.

That's what I thought...
I'm still trying to think of different ways to bring the water back to the pond. Don't really have to have another fantastic waterfall......LOL
I was thinking to put a couple 10" or so lengths of pvc pipe in a couple areas. Do I need more than one? Of course that will proabley depend on my gph, right? I'm thinking of putting one of those ball valves on the hose from our waterfall pump to the bog.
