Hated to do it but with the every summertime West Nile Virus outbreak I had our bird bath put on the sidewalk with a "FREE" sign attached. It was gone within the hour. Hope the new owner loves it as much as we did. West Nile is a very serious mosquito transmitted illness. Our public health departments along with city governments are reducing the number of cases through pubic awareness, education, spraying and distribution of free pond donuts. If your area has West Nile make your yard and pond safe. It's both easy and inexpensive. Eliminate all standing water, have mosquito larvae eating fish plus mosquito donuts in your pond.

Big Lou cares.

I even keep the taps slightly open on my rain water barrel and put dunks in but also heard if you add concentrated lemon juice it helps and does not harm birds .I have been using a little peroxide and solar salt to my bird bath it does not harm birds but keeps mosquito's away .The dunks here are expensive .So been trying home remedies out .The salt and peroxide I used back in NJ

hey any one interested in home surveillance home dpot has a system for 299.99 4 cameras and night vision and a 4 screen video monitor 500 gb100 ft night and 36 leds on each camera pre installed hard drive and 700 lines of resolution day night auto switch ,anti glare and 60 ft of cable with each camera and you can add extentions to the cables
The system i use is q-see, easy to set up.

with all of our water here, 10 ponds more or less depends on how you count them, we have no mosquitoes. I think all the birds, dragonflies, frogs keep them under control.

Pouring a dose of algeside in the pond this morning. Could life get any more exciting? :)
Added pulling wild elephant ears (called turkey ears in Louisiana) from stone areas of the pond. Poisoned others growing around the pond deck. We recently had the yard crew cut down a non-pluming yellw flag tall Lilly bed. This morning I sprayed the bed with herbicide so new St Augustine sod can be planted. Lastly, from the pond deck, standing on tippy toes, I sprayed my neighbors side of the fence to kill any new trumpet vines sprouts. I sure regret the day I planted that destructive, mega invasive vine. With all that accomplished I come in, cleaned myself up and put a nice frozen ice pack on the back of my neck. A very good morning. :)

Just after Cathy got home from work last night we heard a really loud boom. Turned out it was the garage door spring. No way to get the door open. Called our usual garage door repairman and bless his soul he was over within the hour. In no time at all it was all fixed! Lesson learned, at his suggestion we had two springs installed to ensure the door would always open. Great job!

Be in the garage when the spring breaks ,I was at my house in Nj and spring hit me in the back of the head and glad it was on the second bounce or could have done more damage than split my head open .Just glad my truck was not in there I could just imagine the damage to it and it still had temp tags on it from the dealer .8 stitches later and one nasty headache and I was fine .Lots of MRI's also .Hey at least I knew I had a brain in there . :cheerful:
