Oh, I never thought of on top of the water heater! I felt on top of the fridge and have never felt it to be warm at all. Wondered about that, maybe the heat from behind the fridge warms the pan on top some? I know in the past I've always put tray on top, but this fridge is maybe made differently, not sure. But, the pan is downstairs, right next to the water heater, so I may check if there is a flat surface to put it on. Thanks!

Oh, and I totally agree about the possible invasiveness of the trees. Supposedly, in this area, when we get a normal winter with freezing temps for long periods of time, the tree will not bloom. So, I would agree that if they don't bloom, they can't spread. That thread is pretty negative, and believe me, I would not encourage any invasive species in our area. I'm not even sure the silly seeds are going to grow, and if they don't, so be it! The only reason he is wanting them is their name ... for his daughter! I agree with one of the posts on that forum, that the tulip tree is a much better choice. I've seen tulip trees, and they are beautifully shaped trees, and grow pretty fast, although the "tulips" pretty much blend in with the leaves, thus not much show. But, thanks for the sites. I did read up about them, and am still not sure I would even plant one in my yard, if they sprout! I don't want anything that spreads, but you CAN kill them easily with Round-Up and such chemicals, so it's not like they are unkillable. :)

No rhyme or reason for any of the mail carriers it seems. Our local post office used to have 3 workers at the window first thing in the morning (I know, we have a small PO - about 15,00 people in Effingham) for the business mail. Several of them retired Jan. 1, so now we are lucky to have 2, usually only 1, and the line is getting longer and longer, as those guys are very slow. And, if I mail a letter FROM Effingham TO Effingham, it first has to go 85 miles north to Champaign, then back to Effingham. Tell me the logic in THAT?!
Sissy, sounds like your package has been mishandled. LOL Or, maybe they are sending it the "scenic route"!

I know what you mean. Our rural mail has to go to the big city (Toronto) because that's where the "sorting station" is, then it gets sent back to the local delivery person. A lot faster just to drop it in a person's mail box!

geeze our post office is supposed to be open 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours after 1 and you can go there and no one shows up because they only have 3 people there and they have to deliver the mail and sort the mail and open the window .They are talking about closing the rural ones and we we have to travel 35 minutes to Danville post office .The last time I got stuff from pet mountain it went down to NC and then up to WV and then Ohio and then came back down here

Lou, I forgot to mention that I agree with you. I'm secretly hoping none of the seeds sprout, or not in time to give them away as baby trees. :) He should have grown a nicer tree, but most trees take 2-3 years before they are of a size to transplant and have a chance to survive.
Around here, many of the small town post offices have totally closed down. A friend delivers rural mail, and she now has to drive 15 miles to Effingham, sort her mail, take it 15 miles back to her home town, and deliver in the country. Does she get paid any extra for that? Nope! She may get a few miles mileage cost added, but otherwise she's expected to get the work done in the same time as before sorting at the local office. Pretty soon there will be no post office, I'm afraid. Internet and modern technology has done that.

Some people are so unbelievably stupid.

While out and about we were in a turn lane three cars back from the traffic light. As is the habit here the car ahead of us blew his horn the split second the light turned green. Suddenly the same car turned into the adjoining lane. Now we could see that the first vehicle in the turn lane has no driver and its hazard lights are flashing. As Cathy was also turning into the adjoining lane the light turns red and a man carring a gas can crossed the street to his stalled car.

My point is that the bonehead directly behind the stranded car blew his horn apprehenly thinking his action would somehow enable the driverless vehicle to move on its own. In our small ciity it seems that many drivers use their horns to demand others to make way without regard to safety, common sense or civility. Does such happen where you live?

Another rant. You probably have noticed the big political goings on about illegal immigrants.

Saw this on our local news broadcast tonight. On a very congested Dallas six lane street a car was hit in the rear and totaled. The victim was a American citizen with valid license, registration and insurance. The person at fault was a illegal alien who did not speak English, was speeding thirty five miles over the posted limit, had no license, no ID, driving a car with expired registration, expired inspection and no insurance. The police issued the at fault driver only a speeding ticket. After investigating this incident the television station was told by the PD that the responding officer decided it was more important to get traffic back moving than it was to deal with all the actions of the illegal alien. Aside from being cited for the other mutipule offenses the alien would have ultimately been deported.

Totally on your same thought train on the last post, Lou! Yep, those in our country illegally should have if anything stricter laws, not lesser. Why in the world would they not want to stay? The come over our borders, have babies for free in our hospitals, and then are allowed to stay, because their baby is an American citizen? Then we also give them free food, medical insurance, and money to start businesses, which when the money runs out, they also "run out" ... to the next town/state to do the same thing over with the free money for businesses. I see that over and over in our area.
On the other issue, I can say my smaller two (15,000 people) does not treat other people so poorly as where you live, when it comes to traffic. In fact, in this area, if someone was blowing their horn like you were describing, I can see several drivers get out of their car and confront the idiot! It just doesn't happen here. People are much more courteous! I'm thankful for my small town courteous neighbors. I think that's why I don't like driving "in the city", like St. Louis, Chicago, etc. People are so short tempered and demanding. Take life a little slower, enjoy the scenery (if you can when all you have to look at is buildings and concrete, that is) and you will live a longer healthier life.
